The anime adaptation of the hit Korean webtoon Overgeared has locked in its Japanese broadcast date, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series worldwide as it airs. The production team at J.C. Staff revealed the October 2, 2026 premiere alongside a third trailer, a new key visual, and two additional cast members on September 13, 2026. The series, known in Japan as Tempal: Item no Chikara, marks another major webtoon adaptation from the studio behind Solo Leveling, and fans across the globe will be able to follow Grid’s rise from a struggling gamer to a legendary blacksmith from day one.

The Overgeared anime begins its television broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS11 on October 2, 2026, at 11:30 p.m. JST. For viewers in Japan, Prime Video offers an early streaming window starting September 27, 2026, giving domestic audiences a head start before the official TV debut.
International fans can watch the series on Crunchyroll, which streams the anime worldwide as it airs in Japan. Crunchyroll is also giving the series a theatrical showcase through its Anime Nights program on September 21, 2026, screening the first episodes with Japanese audio and English subtitles in theaters across the United States and Canada, alongside other fall titles like Black Clover Season 2.
Third Trailer and New Key Visual Revealed
The third trailer for Overgeared previewed both the opening and ending theme songs. The Story of Grid and the World of Satisfy
Overgeared follows Shin Youngwoo, a struggling young man in the real world who spends his days working odd jobs and his nights playing the popular VR game Satisfy. Known in-game as Grid, he is a low-level player with little hope of rising through the ranks. His fortunes change when he stumbles upon Pagma’s Rare Book, a hidden item that grants him the legendary blacksmith class Pagma’s Successor.
This class allows Grid to forge powerful equipment that no one else can create, and he can wear it himself. The catch is brutal: using the inheritance resets his character level, forcing him to climb back up with better gear than his rank should allow. The series blends virtual reality game mechanics with classic power progression, drawing comparisons to both Sword Art Online and Solo Leveling.
Source Material and English Availability
The original Overgeared web novel, written by Saenal (Park Saenal), began serialization on KakaoPage in November 2014 and ran until 2024. The webtoon adaptation launched in April 2020, with Monohumbug of REDICE Studio credited for the adaptation and Team Argo for the art.
English readers can access the webtoon digitally through Tapas, which has published the series since September 18, 2021. Yen Press, under its Ize Press imprint, publishes the print volumes, with the first volume released in 2023. The web novel is also available in English through Wuxiaworld.
Crunchyroll Anime Nights Theatrical Screening
Before the worldwide streaming debut, Crunchyroll Anime Nights gives fans in U.S. and Canadian theaters a chance to see Overgeared on the big screen.
