Daemons of the Shadow Realm is officially coming back for a second season. The confirmation arrived right after the Season 1 finale aired in Japan, giving fans of Hiromu Arakawa‘s supernatural adventure series plenty to look forward to.
The final episode of the anime’s first season, which ran for 24 episodes across two consecutive cours, aired on September 19, 2026. Production studio BONES FILM announced the continuation on the same day, alongside a teaser video and a new visual for the upcoming season.

The announcement came directly after the Season 1 finale finished broadcasting in Japan. A teaser trailer was released on the anime’s official YouTube channel, showing quick flashes of key characters including Yuru, Asa, Left and Right, Gabby, Dera, and Hana.
The teaser also features Ivan, who fought Yuru and his allies in fierce battles during Season 1, and Misasagi, the leader of the Nishino Village faction targeting the twins.

The manga launched in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021. The manga’s 13th compiled volume was published on July 10, 2026.
The story follows Yuru and Asa, twins living in a remote mountain village under the protection of two stone guardians. Yuru lives a quiet life close to nature, while Asa carries out a mysterious duty for the village while locked in a cage. Their peaceful existence shatters when a “dragon’s roar” triggers a series of events that forces Yuru to leave his home and search for his sister.
The anime adaptation brought together a strong production team. Masahiro Ando, known for directing Sword of the Stranger, served as director. Noboru Takagi handled series scripts, while Nobuhiro Arai designed the characters and served as chief animation director. Kenichiro Suehiro composed the music.
