Kim Ji Won surprised fans by revealing that despite her massive popularity, she regularly takes the subway and goes completely unnoticed. The actress made the confession during the September 29 episode of the YouTube talk show Salon Drip 2, where she appeared alongside co-star Lee Jung Eun to promote their upcoming SBS drama.
Kim Ji Won Reveals Subway Struggles on Salon Drip 2
The Salon Drip 2 episode, titled “If you’re curious about the surprising side of these two actors, comment ‘info’ below,” was released on September 29 on the YouTube channel TEO. Host Jang Do Yeon pointed out that all three of them share an unexpected habit: they frequently use the subway. When Lee Jung Eun asked Kim Ji Won if she also takes the subway often, the actress replied, “I ride it often too.” Lee Jung Eun responded in surprise, “People must recognize you.” Kim Ji Won then delivered the line that caught everyone off guard: “Unfortunately, they don’t recognize me at all.”
The confession landed because Kim Ji Won has been one of Korea’s most recognizable drama actresses for years. Her roles in Queen of Tears (2024), My Liberation Notes (2022), Fight for My Way (2017), and Descendants of the Sun have made her a household name. Yet she explained that in her everyday life, she can still move around by subway without being easily noticed.

The conversation turned to her recent donation of ₩100 million KRW (about $73,900 USD) to a children’s hospital. When the host brought up her good deed, Kim Ji Won grew shy and said, “I just got lucky to have that opportunity. That’s how it happened.”
