Jo Bo Ah has been offered the lead role in the upcoming TVING original series The Obedient Killer, stepping in for Lee Chung Ah, who stepped away from the project after a car accident in August 2026 worsened a pre-existing back injury. The casting is not yet final, but if confirmed, it would mark Jo Bo Ah’s return to acting about eight months after welcoming her first child.
Lee Chung Ah’s Car Accident and Exit from the Drama
Lee Chung Ah, 42, was involved in a traffic accident in August 2026 while traveling to the set of The Obedient Killer. The accident aggravated a back condition she had been managing since a previous traffic accident in 2025, which had injured her hip just before filming the ENA drama Honour: Their Court.
Despite the pain, Lee Chung Ah continued filming while receiving treatment. Her agency, Management SOOP, confirmed the accident on September 18, 2026, stating she was discussing her departure from the drama. A doctor advised her to minimize movement for at least a month, and since The Obedient Killer features numerous action sequences, continuing became difficult.

Lee Chung Ah had already completed several rounds of filming before the accident. She reportedly wanted to continue working through the pain, but after discussions with the production team and medical professionals, she ultimately decided to step down to focus on recovery.
Jo Bo Ah Offered the Role of Lee Hwa Ra
On October 2, 2026, reports confirmed that Jo Bo Ah, 35, received an offer to play Lee Hwa Ra, the character originally assigned to Lee Chung Ah. Lee Hwa Ra, also known by the code name “Miss Lee,” is described as a strong-willed woman with short, sophisticated hair who favors monochromatic suits. She speaks in a dry manner and carries a cold expression, having trained her body and mind relentlessly to become the best in her field.
Jo Bo Ah’s agency, Billions, stated that she is reviewing the offer and nothing has been finalized.

Jo Aram takes on the role of Gye Sook-hee, code-named “Miss Gye,” nicknamed a “fighting rooster”. Kim Jae-wook has also been added to the cast as of June 30, 2026.
