Episode 1 Recap: What Happened in The Witch and the Love Potion of Unrequited Love
The first episode introduced Rose, a witch who lives alone in a small cottage by a lake. She learned potion-making from her late grandmother and earns a living by selling medicines to passing merchants. Her quiet life hides a painful secret. She has been in love with Harij Azm, a Royal Knight, ever since she met him four years ago.
Harij arrives at her door one day with a simple request. He asks Rose to brew him a love potion. The request breaks her heart because it confirms that his feelings belong to someone else. Rose does not refuse him. She has already prepared a love potion and decides to keep that fact hidden. Instead, she tells Harij that she needs rare ingredients and sends him on a long search for them.
The plan works better than she expected. Harij returns again and again with the ingredients, and he starts visiting her every day. He even begins bringing her food to make sure she is eating properly. Rose finds herself looking forward to each visit, even though she knows the day will come when she cannot ask for more ingredients.
The episode ends with Rose growing more attached to Harij while the potion remains finished and untouched. She is trapped in her own lie, and the clock is ticking.
Episode 2 Story Details and New Characters
Episode 2 is titled The Good Witch of the Lake. A familiar merchant named Tien visits Rose to buy her medicines. Rose surprises him by asking whether he has any new robes for sale. The episode continues to develop the growing bond between Rose and Harij. Their daily interactions move beyond simple ingredient deliveries as Harij becomes more involved in Rose’s daily life. The show balances romantic tension with light comedy, and the relationship between the two leads grows warmer with each meeting.
The main cast includes Mikako Komatsu as Rose, Yōhei Azakami as Harij Azm, Hiro Shimono as Tien and Akira Sekine as Villaura. The anime is directed by Keizō Kusakawa at studio Diomedéa, with Wataru Watari handling series scripts.
