Smitty Is Arrested as Jacob Finds Pills Linked to Lia Death
Monday, October 12 brings a devastating blow for Smitty Smith (Mike Manning) and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit). Jacob (Jibre Hordges) arrives at the brownstone with a search warrant and two police officers. While searching the bookcase, Jacob finds a baggie containing a pill bottle linked to Lia‘s death. Smitty is arrested on the spot and taken away in handcuffs while Naomi watches in shock.
The arrest threatens to derail Martin‘s (Brandon Claybon) political campaign, especially since his opponent already knew about Jacob’s earlier questioning of Smitty. Tuesday, October 13 finds Smitty struggling with deep shame as he waits at the police station. Martin is also waiting for big news, but the arrest casts a shadow over everything.
Naomi shuts Jacob down hard when he tries to explain his actions. The tension between the couple reaches a breaking point as Naomi feels the heat from Jacob’s investigation. Naomi had trusted Jacob to eliminate Smitty as a suspect, but instead, her husband slapped handcuffs on her client.
Nicole Breaks Down Over Ted and Shanice Engagement
Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix) faces an emotional crisis when she discovers that Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) are engaged. At the hospital, Shanice shows off her ring to Ashley (Jen Jacob), and Nicole walks right into the celebration. She quickly congratulates the couple but then retreats to her office, where she calls Dani (Karla Mosley) in tears.
Nicole tells Dani that while she has moved forward with Kial (Greg Vaughan) and even given him a key to her place, hearing Ted and Shanice say they love each other “felt like a blow to her heart.” She insists she does not want Ted back, but she worries about how people at the hospital will now look at her.
Tuesday, October 13 brings an about-face from Nicole regarding Ted. Spoilers suggest she may be confronting feelings she has been trying to avoid since the engagement news broke. Later in the week, Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Nicole fight to stay optimistic as the family faces one challenge after another.

After blackmailing Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) to drop attempted m*rder charges, she scores a victory when Bill signs the divorce papers and she hands over her recordings. The real shock comes when Hayley meets Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones), who returned to Fairmont Crest on Friday, October 9. Heather approaches Hayley, and the two form an unlikely connection. A weekly preview shows the pair in a bedroom scene, hinting at a dangerous new alliance.

This comes after Hayley sabotaged Martin’s campaign, putting the family’s political future in jeopardy.
Wednesday, October 14 finds Vernon on high alert while Bill is left completely out of the loop. Bill is usually the man with the plan, but this time he has no idea what is happening around him. The Dupree family continues to close ranks as Anita and Vernon defend their loved ones against outside threats.
