CIA Season 2 Episode 2, titled “Dead Drop,” aired on CBS on October 12, 2026, and delivered a story about secrets, betrayal, and the price of walking away. The episode followed Colin Glass (Tom Ellis) and Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) as they helped a dying Russian spy get revenge, while both men faced personal questions they had been avoiding for years. By the end, Colin made a decision that could change his entire storyline this season.

The Case That Started It All

The episode opened with a Russian spy named Viktor Molotov (played by Gene Farber) attending a party in New York. His own comrades poisoned him with ricin, leaving him with roughly twelve hours to live. Viktor had refused to take part in a mission targeting American intelligence assets because the plan involved harming the families of spies. That refusal marked him as a traitor in the eyes of his former allies.

Viktor approached Colin for help. He offered critical intelligence about a Russian operation against U.S. assets in exchange for one thing: finding the person who poisoned him.

Colin Challenges Bill About His Father

Bill was still processing the truth about his late father’s past as a CIA agent. When Bill expressed frustration that his dad never told him the truth, Colin pushed back. He reminded Bill that his mother and Katie still had no idea about Bill’s own work with the CIA.

“The rules don’t stop existing just because Bill’s feelings are hurt.”

Bill did not let the subject drop. He brought up Toni (Angela Sarafyan), knowing it would get under Colin’s skin. Toni was still in the city, testifying against people who wanted her dead, and she wanted to return to the CIA. Nikki Reynard (Necar Zadegan) was hesitant about bringing her back.

Viktor’s Last Wish Takes an Unexpected Turn

The investigation led Colin and Bill to a man named Gregor Lyalin, who they initially believed was behind the poisoning. After capturing Gregor, they learned the truth: Viktor’s own protégé had been sent to poison him. Viktor was hurt by the betrayal, but Colin reminded him they still needed Gregor to cooperate.

Viktor had one other wish. He wanted to hear a cellist he once loved perform one last time. His career in espionage had forced him to give up that relationship years ago.

A Risky Plan and a Bridge Standoff

Gregor revealed that a man named Pasha was running the operation. The plan was to kidnap a woman named Sarah, who carried the names of American spies in Russia. She was arriving by train from Baltimore in two hours.

Colin suggested a bold move: have Teddy Marsh (Sabrina Victor) take Sarah’s place to help take down Pasha’s team. Teddy agreed to the dangerous plan.

The kidnappers took Teddy, and Colin and Bill chased the van. Teddy fought the men inside and subdued the driver, bringing the van to a stop. Viktor recognized Pasha as the man who poisoned him. Colin intervened before Viktor could kill him.

Viktor Chooses Peace Over Revenge

With only hours left to live, Viktor had a change of heart. He traded killing his attacker for the chance to hear his old friend play the cello. Colin took him to the Lincoln Center for the performance.

The moment had a deep effect on Colin. Viktor chose peace instead of revenge in his final hours. That decision pushed Colin to make a choice of his own.

Colin Burns His Past and Bill Opens Up

At the end of the episode, Colin tore down the bulletin board in his basement covered with papers and photos related to Toni. He burned nearly everything, keeping only a single photo of her. The move signaled that Colin was ready to move forward, even if he had not fully forgiven Toni for her betrayal.

Bill, meanwhile, made a shocking confession. He told Katie that he was working with the CIA and revealed his father’s connection to the agency. The confession hinted at a darker path for Bill this season.

“It was a really great contrast at the end to have Bill be the one who was alone.”
