Where to Watch Season 2 in the US, UK, and Worldwide

CBS airs each episode live on Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the United States. Episodes stream on Paramount+ the same day, with the platform carrying the full season for subscribers.

UK viewers get the season through Paramount+ starting Saturday, October 24, 2026 — about two weeks after the US premiere. Canadian audiences follow the CBS schedule and stream on Paramount+ Canada. Australian viewers can watch through Paramount+ Australia, which carries the series alongside the wider Fire Country universe. New Cast Members and Promotions

Ben McKenzie joins the season as Sheriff Jim Wade, a neighboring lawman from Drake County who arrives to help Mickey in the premiere. McKenzie is Baccarin’s real-life husband, and the two previously worked together on Gotham and The O.C.. His role is not a romantic one. Showrunner Matt Lopez confirmed that Jim Wade and Mickey share a long personal history, but the relationship has never been romantic. Wade is Skye’s godfather, which gives him a direct connection to Mickey’s family.

Baccarin revealed during a press event that McKenzie will appear in more than just the premiere. “He’s here now, he comes back, spoiler alert,” she said. “So far, McKenzie has been locked in for two episodes, with more appearances likely”.

Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan have been promoted from recurring roles to series regulars for Season 2. Arcuri plays Skye Fraley, Mickey’s daughter, and Quinlan plays Hank Iglesias. Their expanded roles mean the family and workplace dynamics will carry more weight across the season.

The core cast returns with Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox, Matt Lauria as Nathan “Boone” Boone, Michele Weaver as Cassidy Campbell, W. Earl Brown as Wes Fox, and Christopher Gorham as Travis Fraley.

The Time Jump and the Eva Santos Twist

Season 1 ended with a reveal that reframed Mickey’s entire family history: Eva Santos, the DEA official played by Rachel Ticotin, is actually Maria Fox, Mickey’s mother, whom Mickey and Wes believed was dead. The showrunner explained that the twist was not planned from the start. “One of the writers pitched it to me relatively early in season 1 [that she was secretly alive], and I dismissed it,” Lopez said. “Over the course of the season, more and more writers started to get on board. I was a fairly late convert because I don’t want to just turn over a card to turn over a card”.

Season 2 does not pick up directly after the finale. Lopez confirmed that the season opens with a time jump, then fills in what happened during the gap. “The emotional aftershocks are going to last much more than an episode,” he said. “We’ve set up this incredible dynamic where Mickey’s essentially barely speaking to her father and now their handler is the woman who Mickey has thought was dead for the last 30 years”.

The early episodes explore the fallout differently for each character. Wes believes he and Mickey are united by their shared betrayal, but Mickey is not as certain. “In some ways you can make the case that Wes’ betrayal was worse,” Lopez said. “We’ll unpack all of this”.

Why Ben McKenzie Is Not Mickey’s Love Interest

The casting of Baccarin’s real-life husband led to immediate speculation about an on-screen romance. Lopez addressed that directly. “There is a huge personal element to their relationship. What their relationship has never been is there’s never been a hint of romance between it,” he said. “I think you’re right that the audience will expect that”.

Instead, the show uses the history between Mickey and Jim Wade to add texture to Mickey’s personal journey. “This season isn’t about whether she can put her family back together. It’s like can she put herself back together?” Lopez said. “What we’ll see with Sheriff Jim Wade is he will play a role in that too”.

Wade’s backstory includes time at the academy with Mickey. They came up together, and he has been sheriff of Drake County for 10 years — longer than Mickey has held her position in Edgewater. “Jim, at a time when there was great skepticism of Mickey, he was an early and vocal champion of hers,” Lopez added.

The Fire Country Crossover in Episode 5

Episode 5, “No Way In,” connects directly to Fire Country Season 5, Episode 5, “No Way Out.” The crossover brings Max Thieriot, Kevin Alejandro, and Jules Latimer into the Sheriff Country episode as escaped convicts trigger a manhunt that pulls both shows together. The two-hour event airs on Friday, November 6, 2026, starting with Sheriff Country at 8 p.m. ET and continuing with Fire Country at 9 p.m. ET.

The crossover also features Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) in one episode this season. Reid has been tapped for a potential medical-based spinoff set in the same universe as Fire Country and Sheriff Country.

What the Showrunner Says About Mickey’s Journey

The season focuses on Mickey’s personal healing after years of supporting everyone around her. “She really needs to look inward,” Lopez told TV Insider. “And what does that mean for who she is and how she raises her family and how her relationship with Skye, her relationship with Wes, and so on. I think we’ve got, if anything, an even better journey for Mickey in season 2 than we had in season 1”.

Baccarin described the experience of working with her husband on set. “I was giddy actually, it was really fun to work together,” she said. “I like saying that last time we worked together, he was the boss, and now I’m the boss, so it’s better. But it does make me very happy”.
