Love in Disguise has arrived, and its first two episodes deliver exactly what the promos promised: a mix of comedy, mystery, and a detective who goes undercover in the most unexpected way. The tvN drama, which also streams worldwide on Prime Video, stars Yim Si-wan as a wealthy murder suspect and Seol In-ah as the detective who disguises herself as a male secretary to investigate him. The premiere week set up a murder case, a double life, and a growing attraction that neither lead character is ready to admit.

Episode 1 Recap: A Murder, a Detective, and a Fake Job Interview

Episode 1 opens with a grim scene. Yoon Yi-jun (Yim Si-wan) stands over the body of his secretary, Han Eun-young, who has been strangled with a belt inside a Taegang Group office. His lawyer, Kim Si-hyun (Kim Jung-hyun), arrives at the scene, and the show then jumps back five hours to show how the night unfolded.

Yi-jun is the heir to Taegang Group, a powerful conglomerate, and the police have their eyes on him. The investigation is slowed down by the group’s influence and a lack of direct evidence, but Yi-jun’s fingerprints are found on the victim’s body.

Kang Jae-hee (Seol In-ah) is a former special forces officer turned police detective. Her short hair and tough demeanor often make people mistake her for a man. She is sharp, fearless, and not the type to back down from a difficult case. When her team learns that Han Eun-young may have had a second phone that could hold key evidence, Jae-hee spots an opening.

A job posting for a personal secretary position at Taegang Group is looking for male applicants only. Jae-hee applies while hiding both her gender and her profession, hoping to get close to Yi-jun and find the missing phone. The interview is tense and uncomfortable in the best way. Yi-jun leans in close, asks unsettling questions, and tests her in ways that make it clear he does not trust easily. Jae-hee manages to get the job, but Yi-jun warns her not to keep secrets from him.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger. Yi-jun notices that Jae-hee’s glasses are not prescription lenses, takes them from her, and crushes them, leaving her undercover mission hanging by a thread.

Episode 2 Recap: Broken Glasses, New Clues, and a Falling Towel

Episode 2 picks up right where the premiere left off. Jae-hee talks her way out of the glasses situation by claiming she wears fake glasses because people often assume she is a girl. Yi-jun lets her stay but makes it clear that he is watching her closely.

Jae-hee begins her double life as Yi-jun’s secretary by day and a detective by night. She starts searching the house and learns that one room on the second floor is strictly off-limits. Naturally, that is the first place she wants to search.

Her broken glasses turn out to be useful. The audio function still works, so she leaves them in Yi-jun’s office and listens in on a conversation between Yi-jun and Kim Si-hyun. She learns that Han Eun-young saw something she should not have seen before she died, and that a manager named Park Min-hwan was involved in cleaning up after the murder. This detail widens the mystery beyond Yi-jun and puts another Taegang Group employee directly inside the cover-up.

At Taegang headquarters, Jae-hee meets Lee Hye-jung (Yeonwoo), the chairman’s secretary, and crosses paths with Kim Si-hyun again. The show also introduces Yi-jun’s family dynamics, including his sisters Yoon Mi-jin and Yoon Na-jung, who are not happy about his rise as the successor.

The episode’s standout moment comes near the end. Yi-jun goes to the Naon Art Centre to meet Park Min-hwan and asks him directly whether he deleted everything Secretary Han saw. Park confirms that he did. Jae-hee follows Yi-jun inside, and he catches her, putting his hands on her throat and demanding to know why she is there. A reporter snapping photos interrupts them, and Jae-hee uses the distraction to lie her way out of trouble, claiming she was protecting him.

The final scene is pure comedy. Jae-hee goes to Yi-jun’s room to deliver water and juice, only to find him fresh out of the shower with just a towel. He tries to apologize for the gallery incident while his towel comes loose. Jae-hee pushes him away, he falls backward, and the towel drops completely.

The Cast and the Chemistry Driving the Show

Yim Si-wan plays Yoon Yi-jun, a chaebol heir who is used to being in control but finds himself at the center of a murder case. At the press conference, the actor explained that he wanted to show a different side of a wealthy heir. “He was born into a life where everything he had to do was already decided for him, leaving little room for what he actually wanted,” Si-wan said.

Seol In-ah plays Kang Jae-hee, the detective who risks everything to go undercover. She cut her hair short for the role and said she focused on the character’s dedication rather than just the disguise. “I wanted to focus on who Kang Jae-hee truly is,” she said.

Kim Jung-hyun plays Kim Si-hyun, Yi-jun’s lawyer and right-hand man, while Yeonwoo plays Lee Hye-jung, the chairman’s secretary. Their characters share a more mature romantic storyline that runs alongside the lead couple’s chaotic dynamic. The drama is directed by Park Dhan-hee.
