The legal battle between HYBE and ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has resumed with renewed fervor in light of new exposés and cross-accusations from both sides.
Dispatch recently put out a bombshell report claiming that Source Music was all prepared to debut NewJeans (then referred to as the N Group) in 2021. The label had finalized a seven-member lineup, and they already had their debut song, “Attention.”
After the report was published, some online fan accounts started speculating that NewJeans’ debut singles, “Attention” and “Hype Boy,” were actually the creation of Source Music producers.
Now, other netizens have come to defend ADOR and Min Hee Jin from this accusation. In a now-viral post on the community site Instiz, a user pointed out that the two primary producers of “Attention” and “Hype Boy” were 250 and FRNK, both under the agency called BANA. BANA’s CEO, Kim Ki Hyun, was the former A&R representative of SM Entertainment (SME hereon), and Min Hee Jin also worked as a creative director. FRNK and 250 are also the main producers of NewJeans, having credits in multiple of their hit tracks.
The OP (Original Poster) also pointed out that Min Hee Jin was familiar with both of them while she was working at SME with F(X). At that time, both producers met with Min and created the 4 Walls Remix album.
The post has drawn a significant number of responses from netizens, most of whom feel that ADOR simply taking away the songs created by Source Music is a highly unlikely scenario. A majority of them seem to be critical of HYBE for fueling the rift with Min Hee Jin.
- “This is tiring. How long are they going to drag this? Please, pay attention to your own groups.”
- “Ugh, really.”
- “Instead of doing mediaplay like this, use that time to focus on your groups.”
- “Since things are going well, they keep claiming they did it. LOL. They even insist that they made NewJeans. Does insisting make it a fact?”
- “The recent performances of their own group have been getting good reactions, but they sure know how to spoil things.
