Former BIGBANG member Seungri has publicly apologized for using his former group’s name and G-Dragon’s inappropriately after returning from prison. The ex-idol insists the mention was unintentional and has vowed to refrain from such actions in the future.
Seungri’s Apology Following Controversial Remarks
Seungri, who was convicted in connection with the Burning Sun Scandal and served a prison sentence of one year and six months, made headlines again recently. After his release on February 9, 2023, he attended various events, where he was accused of leveraging BIGBANG and G-Dragon’s names for personal gain. A viral video from an event in Cambodia in January 2024 showed Seungri mentioning these names, which led to significant backlash from fans.
In an interview with My Daily on August 11, 2024, Seungri addressed the controversy:
“I was drunk and unintentionally mentioned BIGBANG and G-Dragon. I understand that my behavior was inappropriate and wrong. I assure you that nothing like this will happen again. I plan to live quietly and without involving others.”
