Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min are set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy drama “Would You Marry Me.” SBS confirmed the casting news on February 4, exciting fans about the fresh pairing of these popular actors. The drama will feature a marriage of convenience that may blossom into real love.
A Contract Marriage with Unexpected Twists
Jung So Min, known for her roles in romance dramas like Love Next Door, Love Reset, and Because This Is My First Life, will play Yoo Me Ri, a designer unlucky in love. Yoo Me Ri wins a luxurious townhouse after her engagement falls apart due to her ex-boyfriend’s infidelity. However, she faces the threat of losing the townhouse due to a subsequent scam involving a newlywed home rental. Desperate to keep her prize, she proposes a fake marriage to Kim Woo Joo (Choi Woo Shik), who happens to share the same name as her ex-fiancé.
Choi Woo Shik will portray Kim Woo Joo, the narcissistic only son and fourth-generation heir of Myungsoondang, an 80-year-old bakery. He’s a talented marketing team leader preparing to take over the family business after his father’s death. Yoo Me Ri and Kim Woo Joo cross paths professionally as part of partner companies, which is when she decides to execute her plan. Kim Woo Joo agrees to the fake marriage, setting the stage for a story where love might develop after the initial contract.
The drama promises a classic K-drama trope with a unique twist. After a painful breakup and difficult circumstances, Kim Woo Joo might be the healing force Yoo Me Ri needs. The 12-episode drama, “Would You Marry Me,” is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2025.
