Park Bo Gum shared details about his injury while filming the new drama GOOD BOY at a press conference in Seoul. The actor pushed himself too hard in action scenes, causing a delay in production.
The cast of JTBC’s upcoming action drama GOOD BOY held a press conference on May 29 in Guro, Seoul. Lead actor Park Bo Gum, along with co-stars Kim So Hyun, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, Tae Won Seok, and director Shim Na Yeon, discussed the challenges of filming.
Park Bo Gum plays Yoon Dong Ju, a former Olympic boxing champion who becomes a police officer. The role required intense physical training and fight scenes. The actor admitted he trained hard to perform his own stunts but suffered an injury that paused filming for over a month.
“Action is something I’ve always wanted to do. Playing Yoon Dong Ju was physically demanding, but never mentally draining,” Park said. He prepared months in advance, working with trainers to build strength and boxing skills. Despite his efforts, he pushed too hard and got hurt during a fight sequence.
The injury forced the production to stop while Park recovered. He expressed regret for the delay but thanked the team for their support. “Everyone told me to rest and focus on healing. Thanks to them, I returned in a month and a half,” he shared. Once back on set, he worked harder to make up for lost time.
Cast Support and On-Set Challenges
Co-star Oh Jung Se, who plays the villain, joked about Park’s comeback. “As the bad guy, I was uncomfortable because he returned even stronger than before,” he said, lightening the mood. The cast trained together, learning different sports for their roles as former athletes turned cops.
Kim So Hyun, who plays an Olympic shooter turned detective, also faced physical challenges. “We all had to adapt to new skills. It was tough but fun,” she said. The drama blends action, comedy, and crime-solving, making it a unique project for the actors.
GOOD BOY’s Unique Storyline
The drama follows a special police unit made up of former Olympians. Each member uses their athletic skills to fight crime in a corrupt system. Park’s character, a disgraced boxer, finds new purpose as an officer. The team includes a wrestler, fencer, and sharpshooter, creating dynamic action scenes.
Filming took over six months, with Park’s injury causing a major delay. Director Shim Na Yeon praised the cast’s dedication. “They trained like real athletes. Park Bo Gum’s injury was unfortunate, but his commitment never wavered,” she said.
