Netflix has announced that Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 will premiere on November 4, 2025. The reality competition, inspired by the hit Korean drama, will feature 456 new contestants battling for a $4.56 million prize. Fans can expect fresh challenges, shocking twists, and intense eliminations in the upcoming season.
A teaser released on July 10, 2025, gave a glimpse of new games, including the Gong-gi (Korean stone-tossing game) and a six-legged pentathlon. The showโs producers have promised even bigger surprises this time, with more strategic gameplay and unexpected alliances.
Whatโs New in Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2?
Season 2 will introduce never-before-seen games inspired by the original series, along with some fan-favorite challenges. The teaser revealed rainbow racetracks, flying stones, and the return of the intimidating pink guards. Contestants will face tougher decisions, testing their endurance and mental strength.
Netflixโs VP of Nonfiction Series, Brandon Riegg, confirmed the showโs return, saying:
โThere was no red light in our decision to greenlight Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show weโve premiered at Netflix. Weโre so excited to continue the franchise with our team in Korea and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.โ
Who Will Compete in Season 2?
Casting for Season 2 has closed, with 456 new players set to compete. Unlike Season 1, which had mostly British and American contestants, Netflix may include more international participants this time. The show is filmed in the UK, with a massive set built across six stages in London.
Applications for Season 3 are already open, meaning fans who missed out this time can still apply for future seasons. Contestants must be 21 or older to participate.
How Successful Was Season 1?
The first season of Squid Game: The Challenge debuted in November 2023 and quickly became one of Netflixโs most-watched unscripted shows. It gained over 200 million viewing hours in its first month and remained in Netflixโs Global Top 10 for five weeks.
The winner, Mai Whelan, a 55-year-old woman, took home the $4.56 million prize, proving that strategy and patience can triumph over physical strength.
What Else Can Fans Expect?
Netflix is expanding the Squid Game universe with Squid Game: The Experience, an interactive attraction in New York, London, and Sydney. Fans can also revisit the original drama, which concluded with its third and final season in June 2025.
With Season 3 already confirmed, Netflix is doubling down on the franchiseโs success. The streaming giant has not revealed whether any past contestants will return, but the competition remains fierce.
