MBC’s new historical drama Moon River has released its first posters, showing leads Kang Tae Oh and Kim Se Jeong in a magical body swap. The images introduce the fantasy romance story of a crown prince and a common peddler whose lives are turned upside down when their souls are mysteriously switched.

The posters highlight the unusual situation between Crown Prince Lee Kang, played by Kang Tae Oh, and the witty peddler Park Dal Yi, played by Kim Se Jeong. In one poster, the prince holds the peddler like a paper doll, while another shows the peddler smiling mischievously while dressed in the prince’s royal clothes. The tagline on the posters reads, “A chaotic, soul-swapping romance between complete opposites”.

The Story Behind the Switch

“Moon River” is a fantasy romance set in the Joseon era. Kang Tae Oh’s character, Crown Prince Lee Kang, appears wild on the outside but hides deep pain from losing a loved one in palace power struggles. Kim Se Jeong plays Park Dal Yi, a clever peddler who has lost parts of her memory but uses her sharp tongue to sell her goods.

The drama follows what happens when these two very different people have their souls swapped, forcing them to live each other’s lives. The prince must walk in the shoes of a commoner, while the peddler finds herself navigating the dangerous politics of the royal palace.

A Closer Look at the Posters

The released posters creatively show the connection between the two characters. One special poster features Lee Kang perched on top of Park Dal Yi’s traditional woven bamboo hat, which has an ink wash painting-style landscape illustrated across it. Park Dal Yi’s eyes beam with laughter in the image, while Lee Kang clutches the cotton decoration on the hat, looking helpless.

The visual contrast between the two characters hints at the playful and chaotic relationship that will develop as they deal with their strange situation. The posters aim to build excitement for the chemistry between the two leads and the unique premise of the show.

Cast and Production Details

This drama marks the first time Kang Tae Oh and Kim Se Jeong have worked together. The supporting cast includes Lee Shin Young as Prince Je Un, Lee Kang’s cousin; Hong Su Joo as the ambitious Kim Woo Hee; and Jin Goo as the powerful Kim Han Cheol.

The drama is written by Jo Seung Hee and directed by Lee Dong Hyun. The production team shared that the actors showed great synergy from their first script reading.
