Marvel Confirms Daredevil and Spider-Man Stories Are Connected in the MCU

Daredevil: Born Again

For the first time since their brief meeting in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the worlds of Daredevil and Spider-Man are officially set to collide within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios has confirmed that the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will directly connect to the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, weaving a shared narrative for New York’s street-level heroes.

The Official Connection

At the recent New York Comic Con 2025, Marvel executives revealed that the storylines of the Disney+ show and the Sony film will be closely linked. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, explained the creative coordination between the two productions. He stated:

โ€œWe don’t want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is importantโ€ .

Winderbaum further elaborated that there is “a lot of communication” between the teams working on Born Again and Brand New Day to ensure a coherent shared world. This approach marks a significant shift towards more interconnected storytelling between Marvel’s television projects and its blockbuster films.

A Shared World in New York City

Both stories are grounded in a post-Multiverse Saga New York, where the political landscape has been dramatically altered. Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, who has now solidified his power as the city’s mayor. His administration’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force has created a hostile environment for heroes, setting the stage for a city-wide conflict that will impact both Daredevil and Spider-Man.

The connection is described as organic, with both Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker dealing with themes of identity, justice, and redemption while operating in the same urban environment. While the two heroes may not share the screen in a direct partnership, the consequences of the events in the series will directly influence the situation Peter Parker faces in the movie.

What to Expect in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

The second season, scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026, will see Matt Murdock rallying supporters to oppose Mayor Fisk’s regime. The cast includes returning fan favorites and new additions:

  • Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin
  • Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones
  • Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher
  • Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson
  • Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page

Footage shown at New York Comic Con featured the return of Ritter’s Jessica Jones and a bloody boxing match scene with Kingpin. The season will delve into the aftermath of the events from Echo and Spider-Man: No Way Home, placing Daredevil in an ethical and legal quandary as new vigilantes emerge.

The Spider-Man Movie’s New Challenges

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for release on July 31, 2026. The film will continue Peter Parker’s story as he navigates a world where no one remembers his identity. He will also have to contend with the new rules for vigilantes imposed by Mayor Wilson Fisk. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is confirmed to appear in the movie, further strengthening the bridge between the street-level narratives.

A New Street-Level Saga for the MCU

This planned interconnection is being seen as a return to Marvel’s roots of tightly woven storytelling. It promises to grow the grounded, street-level corner of the MCU, focusing on the heroes who protect New York City from its gritty, everyday threats. For fans who have longed for a more connected universe since the days of the Netflix Marvel shows, this coordination between Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day signals a promising new direction.
