The doors to high society have reopened. Palm Royale is back for its second season, continuing Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons’s chaotic journey through the exclusive world of 1969 Palm Beach. The new season premiered on November 12, 2025, on Apple TV+, picking up from the scandalous cliffhangers of the first season. For those catching up, here is a breakdown of the first two episodes and a guide to when new installments arrive.
Season 2 Premiere Recap: A Dream and a Nightmare
The season opens with a glamorous fantasy. Maxine, portrayed by Kristen Wiig, is at the peak of her social power inside the Palm Royale club, dancing as Robert performs on stage. This bright dream is a sharp contrast to her reality. She is actually confined to Sunny Tides, a posh mental institution for wives, sedated and struggling to separate her ambitions from the truth.
Meanwhile, Robert lies in a hospital bed, unconscious from being shot. Norma, played by Carol Burnett, keeps a close watch by his side. Her concern, however, is not for his health but for her own secret. She fears that if Robert wakes up, he will expose her real identity as “Agnes,” a truth that could destroy the life she has built.
The episode also follows other characters navigating their own crises. Linda, played by Laura Dern, is wrongly imprisoned and tries to make Maxine understand their dire situation. Dinah plans her wedding to Axel Rosenhips but confesses to Maxine that she is still in love with her husband, Perry. Determined to escape her asylum nightmare, Maxine manages to break free with help from Evelyn and makes her way to the hospital.
The premiere ends with several shocking turns. Dinah finds her fiancรฉ, Axel, dead. Norma solidifies her power by introducing Mitzi as the newest member of the Dellacorte family. In the final moments, Robert awakens, looks at Norma, and whispers the name “Agnes,” setting the stage for a major confrontation.
Episode 2: Maxine Serves a Swerve
The second episode, released on November 19, sees Maxine trying to regain her footing after escaping Sunny Tides. She is determined to reclaim her status and solve the new mysteries unfolding around her.
Robert’s awakening sends ripples through Palm Beach. His memory of the past threatens to topple the carefully constructed lies of the elite. Norma begins a campaign to discredit him, telling anyone who will listen that his head injury has left him confused and unreliable.
The death of Axel Rosenhips becomes a central plot. With Axel suddenly dead, everyone is a suspect. Dinah, who discovered the body, is under scrutiny, but Norma’s earlier private meeting with Axel also places her under suspicion. The missing cufflinks Dinah gave Axel suggest the killer might be someone from their inner circle.
Laura Dern, whose character Linda is also imprisoned, shared that working with Carol Burnett this season “made it just complete bliss,” highlighting the dynamic new pairings in the story.
Maxine uses the chaos to her advantage. She realizes that the secrets and lies make everyone vulnerable, and her knowledge of the town’s dealings could be her key back into high society. She works to form new alliances while carefully watching her enemies.
