After a short break for the holidays, the beloved comedy Ghosts is returning to CBS with a new episode. Titled “The Proposal,” the episode will bring back the chaotic energy fans love, featuring a romantic plan that goes off the rails and a ghostly fight club in the basement.
The new episode will air on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. The show is taking a one-week hiatus because the network is broadcasting an NFL Thanksgiving game on November 27.
What to Expect in “The Proposal”
The upcoming episode centers on two main storylines that promise the show’s signature mix of humor and ghostly interference.
In the living world, Sam is helping her friend Eric plan what he hopes will be the perfect marriage proposal for Bela. However, things never go smoothly at Woodstone Mansion. The ghost Sasappis uses his special power to influence Bela’s dreams, planting seeds of doubt in her mind just before the big moment. This meddling threatens to turn Eric’s romantic plans into a comedic disaster.
Meanwhile, downstairs, the ghost Isaac is trying to fit in with the rowdy group of cholera spirits known as the basement ghosts. To prove he is “just one of the basement ghosts,” Isaac finds himself challenged to a duel. The situation escalates into a Fight Club-style contest, forcing Isaac to rely on Sam’s help to get out of the predicament.

A Look Back at the Thanksgiving Episode
The previous episode, “Planes, Shanes and Automobiles,” was a Thanksgiving-themed story. With Sam away on a book tour with the ghost Pete, Jay was left in charge of the “ghost duties” at the mansion. Jay was not interested in being the ghosts’ butler, which led the spirits to bring in their other living friend, Kyle, who can also see them. The episode ended with Jay and Kyle bonding, and Jay inviting Kyle to join their Thanksgiving dinner.
With the holidays in full swing, the ghosts of Woodstone Mansion are sure to bring more laughter and heart when the show returns on December 4.
