The new British heist thriller Steal, starring Sophie Turner, is now streaming on Prime Video. Alongside its tense plot, the show features a gripping original score by acclaimed composer Martin Phipps. This guide covers every detail about the music, from the full soundtrack album release to the select songs used in the series, plus everything else you need to know about the show.
The official soundtrack album for Steal is now available. Released digitally on January 23, 2026, the album features composer Martin Phipps’s original instrumental score for the series. The album is available to stream and download on all major digital music services.
The Soundtrack’s Composer and Creative Approach
The musical world of Steal was built by composer Martin Phipps. Phipps is known for his work on major television series like The Crown and Peaky Blinders. For Steal, he aimed to create a score that matched the show’s tense action but avoided sounding like a typical thriller.
Phipps used a specific tool to give the music its unique sound. He created almost the entire score using a single monophonic synthesizer, the Moog Sub37. This choice resulted in a tense and soaring synth-based soundtrack that provides an ominous backdrop to the financial thriller.
โCreating the music for โStealโ was a thrill,โ Phipps said. โMy intention was to keep the music as taut as the action, but never to produce a generic thriller score. To that end, almost the whole soundtrack was written on one monophonic synthesizer, the Moog Sub37.โ
Phipps collaborated with composer Benji Merrison on several tracks for the series. The score has been released as a soundtrack album by Lakeshore Records, the same label behind soundtracks for Stranger Things and Bridgerton.
