Many viewers will recognize Brown from her role as Septa Mordane in the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. She played the stern yet caring tutor to the Stark girls, Sansa and Arya. Her film work includes playing June, Margaret Thatcher’s housekeeper, in the 2011 biographical film The Iron Lady starring Meryl Streep.
On stage, Brown has an impressive resume with major British institutions. She has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and the Royal Court Theatre. Her performance as Hannah Pitt in the National Theatre’s 2018 revival of Angels in America earned her a Tony Award nomination.
