The March 1 premiere episode of Marshals, titled “Piya Wiconi,” did not immediately confirm Monica’s death . Instead, the episode slowly built toward the revelation through painful clues. Grimes called this scene the reason Kayce accepts the Marshals badge. “I put pressure on myself to get that scene right,” he said. “The scene is why Kayce accepts the ‘Marshals’ badge. His dream life is gone. He has no choice but to try something else” .

The reaction from the audience has been mixed, with many expressing genuine shock and sadness over the loss of a character who had been central to the Dutton family saga for years .
