The wait is finally over for fans of the foul-mouthed teddy bear. Ted Season 2 premiered on March 5, 2026, and it is available exclusively on Peacock. The streaming service confirmed the release date late last year, and with the premiere now just hours away, viewers are getting ready to reunite with the Thunder Buddies.

This new season arrives a little over two years after the first season broke records for the streamer. Season 1 became Peacock’s most-watched original title and held the spot as the number one original streaming comedy in the United States for over two months . Now, the show returns with more episodes and more chaos for the Bennett family.

All Eight Episodes Drop at Once

For those who love to binge, Peacock is sticking with the same strategy that made the first season a success. All eight episodes of Ted Season 2 will be released on the same day . This is one more episode than the first season, which had seven.

If you are in the United States, the new episodes are available to stream starting at 3:00 AM ET on March 5 . This global release means viewers in the UK, Canada, Australia, and India can also watch the show on the same date through Peacock or local streaming partners. For international audiences, the series previously became the biggest U.S. comedy launch on Sky in the UK in over 20 years .

What is the Story for Season 2?

The series is a prequel to the popular Ted movies starring Mark Wahlberg. While the films followed a grown-up John Bennett, the show takes us back to the 1990s. Season 2 is set in 1994 . John (played by Max Burkholder) is now a senior in high school.

Ted is still living with the Bennett family in their working-class home in Framingham, Massachusetts. According to the official synopsis, the season follows John and Ted as they navigate the ups and downs of senior year . This includes dealing with John’s dad, Matty (Scott Grimes), who is a loud and proud blue-collar Bostonian, and his mom, Susan (Alanna Ubach), who is sweet to a fault. John’s outspoken cousin, Blaire (Giorgia Whigham), is also back, which means more clashes with the family’s traditional values.

The creative team promises more of the raunchy, heartfelt humor that defines the franchise. Seth MacFarlane, who voices Ted and serves as a writer, director, and executive producer, said the team is excited to share the new episodes.

“We’ve made a second season of our show, Ted, which we are excited to share with you. The episodes represent the hard work of our fellow writers, gifted actors, and talented crew, including the visual effects team, who bring the character of Ted so convincingly to life,” MacFarlane and his co-showrunners said in a joint statement .

They added that fans can expect the episodes to be “somewhat filthy” and “hopefully funny”.

Returning Cast and Expanding Franchise

The core cast is back for the new season. Seth MacFarlane returns as the voice of Ted, using his signature tone to bring the CGI bear to life. Max Burkholder stars as the teenage John Bennett. The family unit is rounded out by Scott Grimes as Matty, Alanna Ubach as Susan, and Giorgia Whigham as Blaire .

The success of the show has also led to big things for the franchise. Peacock is already working on a new project titled Ted: The Animated Series. Unlike the prequel show, this new animated series will act as a sequel, picking up the story after the events of the two live-action films .

For the animated show, Mark Wahlberg is returning to voice John, alongside Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth reprising their film roles . This shows that Peacock is fully invested in expanding the world of Ted beyond the current series.

With the release date finally here, March 5 marks the day when fans can dive back into the dysfunctional world of the Bennett household and see what trouble Ted and John get into during their final year of high school.
