Lisa Kudrow returns as the famously persistent Valerie Cherish this week, marking the end of a long television journey. HBO is bringing back The Comeback for its third and final season, and viewers finally have a full look at when each new episode will drop.
The series first appeared in 2005 and surprised everyone with a second season in 2014. Now, more than two decades after audiences first met the struggling sitcom actress, Valerie Cherish is making one last attempt to find her place in Hollywood.

Where to Watch The Comeback Season 3
You can watch the new episodes in two ways. The show airs live on HBO at the scheduled time each Sunday. For those who prefer streaming, every episode will also be available on HBO Max (now called Max) at the same time they air.
If you want to catch up before the new season, both Season 1 and Season 2 are currently streaming on HBO Max. The first two seasons have a small number of episodes, making it easy to get through them quickly before the premiere.
What to Expect in the Final Season
In the third season, Valerie lands what looks like her biggest break yet. She secures the lead role in a new sitcom called How’s That?! and also gets an executive producer title. But things get complicated when she finds out the show’s scripts are being written by artificial intelligence.
The new season looks at how Hollywood has changed since Valerie first appeared on screens. The show uses its signature mockumentary style to show Valerie dealing with modern entertainment industry issues while staying true to her character’s awkward but determined nature.
Amy Gravitt, executive vice president for HBO and Max Comedy Programming, shared her thoughts when the renewal was announced last year.
“No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor. On the 20th anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO and we can’t wait to see that.”
