The penultimate episode of Paradise Season 2, titled “The Final Countdown,” dropped on March 23, 2026, and it delivered one of the biggest surprises of the entire series. Episode 7 answered a major question about who Link really is while setting up an even bigger mystery surrounding Alex.

The episode is packed with major moments. Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) and Teri (Enuka Okuma) finally reunite after being separated for three years. The group inside the bunker deals with a revolt that leads to a system meltdown. And Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) meets her end at the hands of Dr. Gabriela Torabi (Sarah Shahi) . But the moment that has everyone talking happens during the tense meeting between Sinatra (Julianne Nicholson) and Link.

Link’s Identity Confirmed as Sinatra’s Son Dylan

The central twist in Episode 7 reveals that Link, the leader of the survivor group outside the bunker, is actually Dylan, Sinatra’s son who died as a child years before the apocalypse.

The reveal unfolds during the final moments of their negotiation. Sinatra and Link meet inside Air Force One, which is parked inside the bunker. Link demands access to Alex, Sinatra’s secret project. When they cannot reach an agreement, Sinatra escorts Link back to the bunker entrance. As Link prepares to leave, one of his men, Geiger (Michael McGrady) , shouts at him to go, calling him by his real name: Dylan.

Sinatra freezes. She asks Link his birthday. He responds, “May 16.” That is the same birthday as her late son. Both characters then get nosebleeds, which the show has used throughout the season as a sign of something unusual happening related to Alex.

“It’s been part of her hope all along – the little, tiny, kernel of a dream of a possibility, and maybe it’s happened, all these years later. It’s pretty crazy.”

Julianne Nicholson, speaking on the Paradise podcast about the twist

After the meeting, Sinatra returns to her husband Tim (Tuc Watkins) and cryptically tells him, “It worked.” When he asks if she is okay, she says, “I can’t explain it, but I think Dylan is too.”

How Dylan Is Still Alive

The show has not fully explained how Dylan survived, but Episode 7 offers clear clues that point to Alex being the reason.

Earlier in Season 2, viewers learned that Henry Miller, a quantum mechanics professor, created a machine called Alex, named after his wife who suffered from Huntington’s disease. The machine appears to have the ability to access multiple realities or manipulate time. Sinatra took over this project after Miller’s death.

Link’s real name being Dylan and his nosebleeds during key moments suggest he does not belong in this timeline. The nosebleeds happen to characters who interact with realities that should not exist. Xavier also experienced nosebleeds earlier in the season, hinting that he may be connected to the same phenomenon.

The episode also reveals that Hadley, Sinatra’s daughter, uses Dylan’s birthday, May 16, as the password to access her mother’s computer. She mentions that every password in their home is that date because she is “the sister of a dead brother.” This detail confirms that Dylan’s death was real and deeply affected the family.

What the Twist Means for the Story

The revelation that Link is Dylan changes the stakes for the final episode. Link came to the bunker to destroy Alex. Sinatra has spent years protecting Alex, believing it holds the key to something important. Now she knows the person trying to destroy it may be her son.

Thomas Doherty plays Link, and Julianne Nicholson plays Sinatra. Their scene together on Air Force One sets up a conflict that goes beyond politics or survival. If Link is truly Dylan, Sinatra now faces a choice between protecting Alex and protecting her son.

The episode also shows that Sinatra had been holding onto hope all along. When she tells her husband she thinks Dylan is okay, it becomes clear that her obsession with Alex was not just about saving the world. It was about finding a way to get her son back.

What Happens to Xavier and Teri

While the Link-Dylan twist drives the episode, Xavier and Teri’s reunion provides an emotional anchor. The two finally meet face to face after Teri spent three years surviving outside the bunker.

Their reunion is cut short when Gary (Cameron Britton) , the man who helped Teri survive, takes a young boy named Bean. Gary sends Teri a note saying he has Bean and asks her to come back. Teri refuses to leave without the boy, telling Xavier that Bean is her family now.

Xavier sets up on a rooftop with a rifle while Teri walks into the post office to confront Gary. Gary breaks down, saying the shelter he built with his friend Ennis was all he had. Teri hugs him instead of letting Xavier shoot him. She promises to tell Bean about the man who saved them. Gary lets them go, and Xavier, Teri, and Bean leave him behind.

Jane’s Fate and the Bunker Meltdown

Inside the bunker, Gabriela becomes suspicious of Jane. After Jane tracks Gabriela’s movements, she breaks into her home to kill her. But Gabriela is waiting. She stabs Jane in the back during a surprise attack in the bathroom. Jane collapses on the shower floor, appearing lifeless.

At the same time, Jeremy, Robinson, and Anders try to force the bunker doors open. Their attempt triggers an oxygen crisis, which conflicts with the full lockdown order Sinatra issued to keep Link and his people out. The system cannot handle both commands at once, causing a nuclear meltdown warning throughout the bunker.

Where the Story Stands Before the Finale

Episode 7 ends with multiple threads hanging. Sinatra travels through a secret underground tunnel to a restricted area. She puts on a blue jacket, enters a room glowing with warm light, and says, “Hi, Alex.” The screen cuts to black before the audience sees who or what Alex is.

Link and his group prepare to attack the bunker with 10,000 armed people. Xavier, Teri, and Bean are on a train heading toward Colorado. The bunker’s system is failing, and the finale will decide who survives and what Alex truly is.

New episodes of Paradise Season 2 stream every Monday on Hulu. The season finale is scheduled for March 30, 2026.
