What Happens in The Other Bennet Sister
Unlike other adaptations that follow Elizabeth Bennet’s romance with Mr. Darcy, this series begins at the Bennet family home in Longbourn. Feeling overlooked compared to her sisters, Mary leaves home to live with her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners, in London. There, she begins a journey to find her own place in the world.
The 10-episode series follows Mary as she navigates society, builds friendships, and discovers her own sense of worth outside of her family’s expectations. The story takes her from the pressures of her mother’s ambitions to new social circles where she is seen for who she truly is.

How the Story Ends (Full Recap)
The series concludes with Mary making significant decisions about her future. After a series of events involving a dangerous trip to the Lakes, Mary returns to London. Her mother, Mrs. Bennet, arrives determined to find Mary a husband, even arranging a gathering of eligible men.
Mr. Ryder eventually proposes, explaining he has inherited a fortune. However, Mary turns him down. She tells him she does not love him and encourages him to find true happiness elsewhere. She also reunites with Mr. Sparrow, a former acquaintance who is now a married doctor, but their meeting confirms they are not meant for each other.
The finale sees Mr. Hayward reappear. He admits he stepped aside earlier because he believed Mr. Ryder intended to propose. Mary, unhappy that he made that choice without her knowledge, eventually accepts his proposal after he declares his true feelings. The series ends with Mary and Mr. Hayward marrying on their own terms, with Mary finally content with the life she has built for herself.
