Netflix is not done with its award-winning dating show. The streaming service officially renewed Love on the Spectrum for a Season 5 just days after the fourth season started playing on the platform. The news came on April 3, 2026, and it arrived with a bittersweet update for viewers. Fan favorite Connor Tomlinson, who has been part of the show for three seasons, shared that he will not return for the new episodes.

The reality series, which follows people on the autism spectrum as they look for love, continues to be a strong performer for Netflix. Season 4 launched on April 1, 2026, to start Autism Awareness Month. The early success of these new episodes pushed Netflix to lock in another season quickly.

Connor Tomlinson Passes the Torch After Three Seasons

Connor Tomlinson became a viewer favorite because of his honest and funny personality on screen. His famous line from a past season, “If cop a feel I must, then cop a feel I shall,” spread widely on social media. But he told Variety that he feels his time on the dating show has finished.

“It is with humility and a heavy heart that I share I will not be partaking in Season 5,” Tomlinson said. “I feel like three seasons is enough to tell my story and find love on my own time.”

Tomlinson joked about his exit, adding, “I’ve chosen to pass the torch to the next person who can make it as big as me.” He made it clear that fans will still see him working. He plans to focus on acting, especially voice work for animated shows, because he has always loved animation. He thanked the show’s creator, Cian O’Clery, and the production team for changing his life over the past three years.

A Seven-Time Emmy Winning Reality Show

Love on the Spectrum has become one of the most decorated reality shows on television. The series has won seven Primetime Emmy Awards since it first aired in 2022. It won Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program in both 2022 and 2025. The show also took home awards for casting and directing in 2024.

The American version is based on an Australian series that originally came out on ABC TV in 2019. Netflix picked up the U.S. version, and it quickly gained a loyal audience. Season 3 of the show stayed in the Global Top 10 on Netflix for two weeks. People praise the show for showing dating struggles and joys in a real and kind way without making fun of the people on screen.

What to Expect from Season 5

Netflix has not yet set a release date for Love on the Spectrum Season 5. The show typically takes time to cast new people and film their dating journeys. Since Season 4 just arrived on April 1, 2026, viewers will likely wait until late 2026 or 2027 for the new season.

The show’s creator, Cian O’Clery, and Karina Holden run the production through Northern Pictures. They look for single adults on the autism spectrum from different backgrounds. The show follows them on first dates, helps them learn social cues, and shows their families supporting them.

Season 4 featured a mix of returning couples and new faces. Viewers watched Madison and Tyler, James and Shelley, and newcomers like Logan from Las Vegas and Dylan from Los Angeles. One episode even showed a marriage proposal that made many people cry.
