The drama keeps getting bigger on Outlander Season 8. The latest episode, titled “Blessed Are the Merciful,” aired on Starz on April 10, 2026. This episode brings major emotional moments for Young Ian and shows Jamie Fraser making some tough decisions about who stays on Fraser’s Ridge. Viewers saw everything from secret prison escapes to a very emotional meeting between Ian and his Mohawk wife Emily (Wahionhaweh). The episode runs for about 60 minutes and is the sixth of the final ten episodes of the series.

Young Ian Faces His Past in a Powerful Reunion

Young Ian Murray (John Bell) takes his wife Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) and their baby Oggy on a trip north. He wants to find out what happened to his first wife, Emily, and the Mohawk village where he once lived. When they get there, they learn the village was burned down by the Continental Army. A friend tells Ian that Joseph Brant (Meegwun Fairbrother), a Mohawk leader, might know where Emily is.

Joseph Brant and his wife Catherine (Océane Kitura Bohémier-Tootoo) welcome them into their home. But Joseph is upset that Ian fought with the Continental Army. He refuses to tell Ian where Emily is. Catherine later shares that Emily is alive, but Joseph still says no to a meeting. Ian tells Rachel that just knowing Emily is alive is enough. He is ready to go home.

Rachel sees how much this matters to Ian. Even though she feels jealous and worried, she goes back to Joseph Brant alone. She begs him to let Ian see Emily. Rachel shares the secret that Ian is the real father of Emily’s son, Swiftest of Lizards. Joseph agrees to the meeting.

When Emily (Morgan Holmstrom) walks into the room, the moment is very emotional. She tells Ian that her husband Kaheroton died in the war. Emily also shares that she has bad dreams about their son being captured and forced to fight. She asks Ian and Rachel to take Swiftest of Lizards to North Carolina to keep him safe.

Rachel says yes without any hesitation. Swiftest of Lizards comes in holding a puppy. He gives the dog to baby Oggy. The puppy is the grandson of Ian’s beloved dog Rollo, which makes Ian very happy. Before they leave, Emily asks to name Ian and Rachel’s son. She names him Hunter. Rachel is moved because Hunter is her maiden name. She believes Emily was guided by the spirit to choose it.

Jamie Makes a Bold Decision About the Traitors

Back at Fraser’s Ridge, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) deals with the men who helped Captain Cunningham attack him. Benjamin Cleveland (Turlough Convery) wants Jamie to hang Cunningham. But Jamie has another plan. He writes letters telling the traitorous men they must leave the Ridge within 10 days. He takes away Hiram Crombie’s trading post and warns everyone that if the men come back, he will shoot them.

Claire (Caitriona Balfe) worries about the wives and children. She knows the women had no idea their husbands were plotting against Jamie. Soon, Mrs. Crombie (Pauline Turner) and the other wives show up at Jamie’s door. They beg him to let them stay. Mrs. Crombie says their husbands threatened them if they came to ask for mercy. Jamie tells them no at first.

Later, Jamie watches his grandchildren and Fanny playing in the fields with Claire. He changes his mind. He calls a meeting at the Lodge and makes a new deal. The men can stay, but they lose their land contracts. The wives will sign new contracts, so the land belongs to them. The men must also give up their weapons. The women quickly agree and thank Jamie.

Elspeth Cunningham (Frances Tomelty) asks Jamie to let her take her paralyzed son back to England. Jamie agrees. Before she leaves, Elspeth tells Claire they could have been friends in another life. Claire holds her hands and says, “I counted you as a friend, Elspeth.”

William Learns a Hard Truth About His Cousin

William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) comes face to face with his cousin Ben (Alex Bhat), who is supposed to be dead. Ben reveals he faked his death after reading Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense.” He switched sides to fight for the Continental Army. But the biggest shock comes when William asks about Ben’s wife, Amaranthus. Ben says it was her idea for him to pretend to be dead.

Ben realizes William has feelings for Amaranthus. The two cousins start fighting. Soldiers pull William away, and Ben has him locked up as a traitor. Dr. Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips) comes to help William. Denzell pretends to give William an enema, which makes the guard leave the room. Then Denzell says he will tell everyone William has smallpox. William will be moved to quarantine and then “die” so he can escape.

Roger Finds His True Calling

Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) tells Brianna (Sophie Skelton) about the vision he had during the battle explosion. He remembered his mother throwing him away from a collapsing shelter during the WWII bombing. His father Jerry caught him. Roger believes he was always meant to go back in time to send his father forward. This means they have not changed God’s plan.
