The film will feature Aamir as a sports coach who trains a team of specially-abled kids and helps them overcome their challenges. The film will also star Genelia D’Souza as the female lead, who will be seen opposite Aamir after a gap of 15 years. The duo had earlier worked together in the 2009 film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, which was produced by Aamir.

Aamir has been preparing for Sitaare Zameen Par for the last few months and has finalised his look and character for the film. He has also done several reading sessions with the ensemble cast, which includes some newcomers and child actors. The film will go on floors from February 2 and will have a marathon schedule of 70 to 80 working days.
