In a recent revelation by renowned photographer Dabboo Ratnani, the charming Abhishek Bachchan was exposed to have been somewhat awkward during his first-ever photoshoot with the stunning Aishwarya Rai. The celebrity photographer, known for capturing the essence of Bollywood’s glamorous couples, shared intriguing details about the couple’s initial discomfort during a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2007 and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011, has been a fan favorite with their on-screen chemistry in films like Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Naa Kaho, Sarkar Raj, Umrao Jaan, Guru, and Raavan. However, it seems that their off-screen chemistry needed a bit of warming up.
Dabboo Ratnani nostalgically recounted the early days when Abhishek Bachchan, the ‘proper gentleman,’ was a bit hesitant about posing with the ever-graceful Aishwarya Rai. The revelation unfolded during a photoshoot in Switzerland for a movie, where Abhishek, being relatively new to the industry, sought guidance on how to strike the right poses with his co-star and future wife.
Dabboo said, “I made them pose together for the first time. So, he (Abhishek) was asking me for poses, ‘How do I do?’ Because he was also new. So, he said, ‘How do I pose with a girl? I’ve not done this before.’ This was before they were going out. Abhishek was a thorough gentleman. He is like a very proper gentleman, so he was awkward the first time to pose with a girl and how to hold her and stuff like that. Initially, I remember he was asking me for ideas. Of course, it was a schedule of a movie, so it was the first day, and after that, we shot a lot together and obviously got more comfortable.”
Dabboo also added that since then, Abhishek and Aishwarya have done many photoshoots together and have become more confident and comfortable with each other. He praised their professionalism and their bond as a couple.
Abhishek, on the other hand, had also opened up about his first meeting with Aishwarya in a podcast with YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia. He said that he met her when he was a production boy for his father, Amitabh Bachchan’s film, Mrityudaata, and she was shooting for her debut Hindi film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. He said that his childhood friend, Bobby Deol, who was Aishwarya’s co-star, invited him for dinner and introduced him to her. He also confessed that he had a crush on her, like everyone else.
He said, “I first met her when I was a production boy. There was a film my father was making called ‘Mrityudata’, and I had gone for the location recce to Switzerland, because the company felt that because I had grown up in Switzerland in boarding school that I would be able to take them to nice locations. I had been there for a couple of days, all alone. And that’s when a childhood friend of mine, Bobby Deol, was shooting for Aur Pyar Ho Gaya. And he got to know I was there, and said ‘Hey, why don’t you come over for dinner?’ And that’s the first time, when they were shooting, when I met Aishwarya. Who doesn’t crush on her? I mean, come on, come on.”
Abhishek and Aishwarya’s relationship blossomed over the years, and they got married in 2007 in a grand ceremony. They welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya, in 2011, and have been doting parents ever since. The couple also shared how they spent quality time with each other and their daughter during the lockdown, and how Aishwarya gave him a valuable lesson on life.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Abhishek said, “The thing is, you learn from each other. I think Aishwarya is much more evolved than me. I’m still kind of getting there. She is much more mature than I am. She teaches me every day. I mean, I’m not saying this just because I’m married to her, but I genuinely believe that she is a far superior being than I am. And I genuinely learn from her. She’s very patient, she’s very calm, she’s very composed. She’s very clear about the way she does things, and I think that’s something that I learn from her every day.”
He added, “She’s also got a fantastic sense of humour, which not many people know. She’s very funny. And I think we just enjoy spending time with each other. We’re very alike in many ways. We both are very private people. We both like spending time at home. We both like watching movies. We both like travelling. We both like good food. So, we have a lot of things in common. And I think we just enjoy each other’s company.”
Abhishek and Aishwarya are truly a match made in heaven, and their love story is an inspiration for many. We wish them all the happiness and success in their lives. 🥰
