The ongoing dispute between NewJeans and their agency, ADOR, has taken another turn. Following NewJeans’ recent announcement of their new group name, NJZ, ADOR has released a statement expressing their disappointment.
ADOR’s Statement and Netizen Reactions
On February 6th, NewJeans’ new Instagram account announced the group’s name change to NJZ. The following day, ADOR responded through TV Report, stating:
“We find it very unfortunate that the members made this decision unilaterally before the legal judgment of the validity of the exclusive contract was made.
We welcome NewJeans or their legal representatives at any time to resolve any misunderstandings and discuss the group’s future plans.”
This statement, however, has been met with criticism from Korean netizens, who have expressed weariness over what they perceive as ADOR’s repetitive messaging. Comments circulating online include:
“It’s not like they didn’t have time to resolve any misunderstanding.”
“Why are they always saying the same thing.”
“What is it that they find so unfortunate?”
“I hate them, what’s wrong with them.”
“Is there any misunderstanding, though? So transparent…”
These reactions suggest a growing frustration with ADOR’s handling of the situation.
The Underlying Contract Dispute
This name change and ADOR’s response are the latest developments in a dispute between NewJeans and ADOR concerning their exclusive contract. The conflict has been ongoing since last year, and its resolution remains to be seen.
