After a long wait, the production of All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is finally in its last stretch. Filming for the much-anticipated second season of Netflix’s hit Korean zombie series is scheduled to complete by mid-February 2026. The production, which began in July 2025, is now focusing on final shoots, including scenes at the Gangwon Provincial Government Building this month. This update brings the show one major step closer to its eventual release, though fans may need to practice a little more patience.
The journey to this point has been lengthy. The series was first renewed in June 2022, just months after its massively successful debut in January of that year. Initial plans for filming in 2024 were pushed back, leading to the start of production in mid-2025. This gap has made All of Us Are Dead one of the longest waits between seasons for a Netflix original series.
Returning and New Cast Members for the Next Chapter
The core group of survivors from Hyosan High is set to return for the new season. Leading the returning cast are Park Ji Hu as Nam On-jo, Yoon Chan Young as Lee Cheong-san, Cho Yi Hyun as the half-zombie Choi Nam-ra, and Lomon as Lee Su-hyeok. Their return was confirmed alongside new cast members who will join the fight for survival.
Fresh faces entering the zombie apocalypse include Lee Min Jae, known from Weak Hero Class 2, and Kim Si Eun and Nah Jae Won, both recognized from Squid Game. Yoon Ga Yi from Family Matters and Seo Ji Hoon are also among the new additions. Notably, actor Yoo In-soo, who played the antagonist Yoon Gwi-nam in Season 1, is currently completing his mandatory military service and is expected to be discharged in August 2026, leaving his participation unclear.
Some actors have already finished filming their parts. Reports indicate Lomon has wrapped his scenes and has moved on to his next project, the K-drama Beauty in the Beast.

Season 2 will pick up the story years after the horrific events at Hyosan High. Nam On-jo is now a university student at Seoul National University, trying to move forward from the trauma. However, peace is short-lived as a new wave of infection suddenly hits Seoul, trapping her and others in another deadly crisis.
The story is expected to take a fascinating turn. Director Lee Jae-kyoo previously hinted that if the first season was about the survival of humans, the second season might focus on the survival of zombies. This likely refers to the evolving story of “hambies” like Choi Nam-ra, who are neither fully human nor fully zombie, and must navigate a world that fears them.
“The story itself was set with season 2 in mind, so if season 2 comes out, it might be a little more interesting and expanded story,” director Lee Jae-kyoo said, offering hope for a well-planned continuation.
The shift in location from a high school to a university and the larger city of Seoul promises a bigger scale. The use of the Gangwon Provincial Government Building as a filming location confirms the story will expand beyond its original setting.
Release Date Rumors and Realistic Expectations
While the end of filming is in sight, the official release date on Netflix remains unconfirmed. Online rumors have circulated suggesting a potential December 2026 release. However, these are not backed by any official announcement from Netflix.
Several factors point to a later release. The series was not included in Netflix’s official 2026 release schedule for K-dramas. Given the show’s heavy reliance on special effects for its zombie action, post-production will be a lengthy and complex process. Most reports from industry watchers now suggest a 2027 release is more realistic, possibly in the early part of the year.
The show’s return is highly anticipated by a global fanbase. Season 1 was a monumental hit, amassing over 55.5 million views in its first 91 days and ranking as one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English series ever. Between January 2023 and June 2025, it continued to draw in 33.2 million views, proving lasting interest.
