The intense love triangle at the heart of Ang Mutya ng Section E is back and more complicated than ever. The premiere of Book 2, titled “The Dark Side,” dropped on December 5, 2025, on the Viva One app, launching the new season with a public kiss, a dangerous attack, and a clear challenge between two rivals in love .
Fans were left with a major cliffhanger in Season 1: Jay-Jay (Ashtine Olviga) became engaged to the caring Yuri (Rabin Angeles), but not long after, shared a secret New Year’s kiss with her classmate, Keifer (Andres Muhlach) . The first episode of Book 2, called “Welcome Back to Section E,” shows Jay-Jay trying to navigate this impossible situation, hiding her engagement ring on a necklace while memories of Keifer haunt her . However, Keifer has no intention of backing down, leading to a dramatic episode that ends with a public showdown.
A Secret Engagement and a Public Kiss
The episode begins with Jay-Jay filled with worry about her conflicting feelings. She replays the New Year’s Eve kiss with Keifer in her mind but knows she must focus on her new fiancé, Yuri . On the first day back at school, Yuri picks her up and talks about his “fiancé duties” . This secret plan falls apart almost immediately. Inside the school, before they even reach their classroom, Keifer grabs Jay-Jay and kisses her right at the class gate . Shocked and feeling guilty toward Yuri, Jay-Jay tells Keifer to stop. He fires back, saying she and Yuri are not officially together, and then leans in to make a bold declaration.
“You’re mine,” Keifer tells Jay-Jay before kissing her again .
Jay-Jay manages to pull away, but the public display sets the tone for the new season. It shows Keifer is ready to fight for her openly, regardless of her engagement .
New Problems for Jay-Jay’s Friends
While Jay-Jay deals with her love life, her friends in Section E are facing their own issues. Her best friend, Ci-N, is missing and not answering calls . It turns out he had a clash with his older brother, who locked him out of their home and plans to send him to London, calling him “wasted potential” . With permission from Jay-Jay’s brother, Angelo, Ci-N decides to move into Jay-Jay’s house, adding a new layer to her hectic life .
On the school rooftop, another friend, Edrix, admits to Jay-Jay that he is struggling with one-sided feelings for a girl. He shows Jay-Jay a picture on his phone, and she is shocked to see it is Freya, the popular and often antagonistic “Queen-B” of Section A . Edrix explains the pain of not being able to confess his feelings, a situation that echoes the larger themes of hidden love affecting the main characters .
Keifer and Aries Fight Over Jay-Jay’s Future
Tension reaches a breaking point when a rumor spreads that Jay-Jay is planning to leave Section E. Her brother, Aries, who is in Section A, offers her what he calls her “last chance” to get in touch with their estranged father if she transfers to his section . When the boys of Section E hear she might leave, they protest loudly .
Keifer confronts Aries, and a physical fight erupts immediately. Keifer punches Aries, who responds by landing a punch on Keifer’s mouth . Jay-Jay arrives and steps in to stop them. Keifer tells her he will only back off if she swears not to leave Section E.
Aries insists the choice is Jay-Jay’s, telling her, “This was her last chance to contact her father” .
Faced with an impossible choice between her friends and a connection to her dad, Jay-Jay decides to stay with Section E . To taunt Aries further, Keifer then boasts that he can help Jay-Jay find her father’s contact details himself, cementing his role as her protector .

The drama takes a dangerous turn when Jay-Jay and her friend Rory are followed after school. A gang led by a boy named Ram ambushes them, accusing Jay-Jay of being Keifer’s girlfriend . A fight breaks out, and Rory is injured. Jay-Jay sees blood and freezes, traumatized by the violence, before running away .
Keifer and Yuri, who had been waiting for her, soon learn she is at the hospital. They both rush there to find a shaken Jay-Jay being comforted by a classmate named David, who helped during the incident . Keifer snaps at David, telling him not to “play hero” next time . David steps away and makes a suspicious phone call, hinting that he might be working with someone against his friends .
Keifer finds Jay-Jay crying alone and consoles her. She admits she is upset because she saw blood again but didn’t hurt anyone this time. Keifer promises they will find out who was behind the attack.
In a decisive moment, Keifer wraps Jay-Jay in his arms in full view of everyone at the hospital .
This public embrace is witnessed by Yuri, who watches from a distance with a clear and jealous look . The episode ends with this tense visual standoff. Yuri, frustrated, states that he is not giving up on Jay-Jay . In response, Keifer accepts the challenge, signaling that their rivalry has now been declared openly.

The new season introduces several new characters set to deepen the conflict.
