Apple TV has set a global premiere date for one of its most talked-about upcoming dramas. The streaming service announced that Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, will arrive on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Based on Rufi Thorpe’s bestselling 2024 novel, the series comes from celebrated showrunner David E. Kelley and production company A24.

The show will debut with its first three episodes on that date. New episodes will then be released every Wednesday, with the season finale scheduled for May 20, 2026. Filming for the eight-episode season began in early 2025 and concluded in June 2025.

Story and Premise of the New Series

The series follows Margo Millet (Elle Fanning), a recent college dropout and aspiring writer. She is the daughter of a former Hooters waitress and an ex-professional wrestler. After a brief relationship with her English professor leaves her pregnant, Margo finds herself struggling with a new baby, rising bills, and no clear way to pay for anything.

Facing eviction, Margo makes a drastic decision to start an account on the content subscription platform OnlyFans. Her situation becomes more complicated when her estranged father, Jinx, shows up wanting to reconnect. Margo agrees to let him move in, primarily for the free childcare he can provide. In a unique twist, Jinx begins to offer her advice drawn from his past career in professional wrestling, which she applies to grow her online following. The story explores her journey navigating new motherhood, financial stress, and the complexities of internet fame.

Creative Team Behind the Scenes

The series is a major collaboration between several powerful entities in television. It is produced by A24, the studio behind acclaimed series like Euphoria and Beef, for Apple TV. The creator and showrunner is David E. Kelley, the multi-Emmy Award-winning writer known for hits such as Big Little Lies, The Practice, and Ally McBeal.

This project continues Kelley’s successful partnership with Apple TV, following the drama Presumed Innocent, which is currently filming its second season. It also marks his first professional collaboration with his wife, Michelle Pfeiffer. The pilot episode and several others are directed by BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Dearbhla Walsh. Additional episodes are directed by Kate Herron and Alice Seabright.

The executive producers include a long list of stars and producers. Alongside David E. Kelley, the executive producers are Elle Fanning, her sister Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari executive produce under their Blossom Films banner. Michelle Pfeiffer, author Rufi Thorpe, Eva Anderson, and Boo Killebrew are also executive producers.

Another Upcoming Project for Fanning and Kidman

Margo’s Got Money Troubles is not the only project reuniting its two lead stars. In late 2025, it was announced that Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning will also star in a new legal thriller series titled Discretion.

That project, also from A24, is based on a short story by author Chandler Baker. It received a straight-to-series order from Paramount+ for an eight-episode season. In Discretion, Fanning will play a summer associate at a Dallas law firm who uncovers secrets protected by non-disclosure agreements, putting her in conflict with a powerful partner played by Kidman. Production for that series is scheduled to begin in 2026.
