ASTRO’s main vocalist, MJ, turned 30 today (March 5, 2024) and surprised fans with the release of a solo cover song!
This marks MJ’s first solo project since his return from mandatory military service in November 2023. He chose to cover “Forest” by Choi Yu Ree, a beautiful folk song known for its introspective lyrics and calming melody.
The accompanying music video features MJ sitting on a bench surrounded by trees, perfectly capturing the song’s peaceful and serene atmosphere.
“Forest” Explores Themes of Isolation and Self-Discovery
MJ’s cover stays true to the original song’s melancholic tone, with his smooth vocals adding a touch of warmth and emotion. The piano-based arrangement further emphasizes the tranquility of the song.
“Forest” delves into themes of feeling lost, seeking solace, and ultimately finding strength within oneself. The lyrics resonate with the feeling of doubt and confusion that many experience in today’s world.
Fans around the world have been praising MJ’s cover, expressing their appreciation on platforms like Twitter. Many admire his heartfelt vocals and the calming ambiance created by the song and video.
