Cha Eun Woo of ASTRO has announced his second solo mini album, “ELSE,” set for release on November 21. The singer and actor, currently serving in the military, shared a compelling teaser that signals a dramatic shift to a darker and more emotional concept. The album was completed before he began his mandatory military service in July 2025, ensuring his fans have new music during his absence.

Teaser Reveals a Darker Concept

The first look at “ELSE” was shared on October 24, showcasing a transformed Cha Eun Woo. The teaser depicts him with visible scars on his face, a confused expression, and an intense aura, a stark contrast to his previous public image. The visual, set in a mysterious atmosphere, features the artist in a leather jacket, holding his face in his hands, and conveys a strong sense of emotional depth and tension. His agency, Fantagio, confirmed the album’s concept and release details, noting that more information, including the tracklist, will be revealed in the coming days.

A Carefully Prepared Military Era Release

Cha Eun Woo recorded “ELSE” and filmed its music video prior to his enlistment, making this a planned gift for his fans. He is currently serving in the Army’s military band after enlisting on June 28, 2025, and is expected to be discharged on January 27, 2027. This album marks his first solo release in about one year and nine months, following his first mini album “ENTITY” from February 2023. Before leaving for the military, he held a fan meeting titled “THE ROYAL,” where he performed an unreleased song, which fans believe might be included in this new album.

Cha Eun Woo’ Expansive Career

Beyond his music career with ASTRO, Cha Eun Woo has built a significant profile as an actor. He debuted in the 2014 film My Brilliant Life and has since starred in popular dramas like “Gangnam Beauty,” “True Beauty,” and “A Good Day to Be a Dog.” His upcoming projects include the Netflix series “The Wonder Fools,” alongside Park Eun-bin, and the film “First Ride,” scheduled for release on October 29. His recent virtual reality concert, “Cha Eun Woo VR Concert: MEMORIES,” also premiered, offering fans another way to connect with him.

“I wanted to make you smile and leave you with fun, happy memories. Thanks to all of you, I’ll go and come back healthy and happy. Let’s definitely meet again,” Cha Eun Woo told fans at his pre-enlistment fan concert.
