The upcoming drama Delusional has announced a change in its lead cast. Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho will now star in the drama, replacing Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol, who were originally cast. This change comes after Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol‘s recent public breakup.
Background on the Casting Change
Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol‘s casting in Delusional was first announced on March 6, 2024. However, after they publicly announced their separation on March 30, the drama’s co-production company, Showbox, informed SPOTV News that production had been paused due to the situation with the lead actors. Showbox also stated they were considering recasting the main roles.
The relationship between Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol became a topic of public discussion, involving Ryu Jun Yeol‘s ex-girlfriend, Hyeri. Following the attention and criticism they received, their respective agencies confirmed their breakup on March 30. They had been dating for approximately two weeks. Han So Hee‘s agency, 9ATO Entertainment, stated that the actors decided to prioritize their careers and avoid further personal issues affecting their work. Ultimately, they left the Delusional project, leading to Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho being cast in their place.

Details About Delusional
Delusional, directed by Han Jae Rim, is based on a webtoon of the same name by author Hongjacga. The drama is a fantasy horror period piece set in two time periods: 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800s Shanghai. The story centers on Yun I Ho (Kim Seon Ho), a painter who is commissioned to paint a portrait of a beautiful and mysterious woman, Song Jeong Hwa (Bae Suzy). As he paints her, he becomes fascinated by her, unaware of the dark secrets she holds.
The New Leads and Their Recent Work
Bae Suzy recently received praise for her role in Doona!, where she played the titular character, Lee Doona, portraying the emotions of a seemingly distant but internally affectionate former idol. Given her real-life experience as an idol, Bae Suzy was able to perfectly capture this aspect of the character.
Kim Seon Ho has recently taken on more challenging roles, moving away from his previous romantic comedy image. He earned praise for his performances in the action thrillers The Tyrant (2024) and The Childe (2023), where he played a doctor and a nobleman, respectively.
Fans are excited to see Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho reunite on screen, having previously worked together in Start Up. Filming for Delusional is scheduled to begin later this year, with an expected release in 2026.
