The team behind Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot has found its newest lifeguard, and he is a familiar face to fans of digital entertainment. Noah Beck, known for his leading role in the Sidelined film franchise, has joined the cast as a series regular, stepping into the role of a rookie with a lot to prove .

Beck will play Luke, a character described as the ultimate charming Southern California beach boy. According to production details confirmed by multiple outlets, Luke comes from a family of firefighters but chose to trade the firehouse for the shoreline . He is a surfer, a flirt, and despite his youth, one of the most talented lifeguards on the squad. His journey on the show will focus on personal growth, largely shaped by his mentorship under the new Baywatch captain, Hobie Buchannon .

From Social Media to the Shores of Venice Beach

For Beck, who boasts a massive following of over 40 million across social platforms, this role marks a significant step in his transition to traditional television. He previously starred in Sidelined: The QB and Me, which remains Tubi’s most-watched original title . His casting in the Fox reboot suggests the network is looking to blend fresh talent with the show’s legacy appeal.

Beck joins a rapidly expanding ensemble that already features some intense characters. He will appear alongside Thaddeus LaGrone, who plays Brad, a fearless former Marine described as a “one-man rescue machine” . The cast also includes Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) as Nat, a former foster kid turned Olympic athlete who serves as Hobie’s right hand , and Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Hobie’s estranged daughter who arrives to carry on the Buchannon family legacy .

A Familiar Face Returns to the Sand

Adding to the nostalgia factor, original Baywatch heartthrob David Chokachi is officially reprising his role as Cody Madison. Chokachi, who attended the show’s massive open casting call in February, will appear as a recurring character. In the reboot, Cody runs “The Shoreline,” a bar-and-grill that serves as the unofficial hangout for the lifeguards, though he still dons the red trunks for the occasional rescue . Chokachi admitted he had been lobbying for a reboot for over a decade, writing emails to executives every six months to make it happen .

Stephen Amell Leads the Charge as Hobie Buchannon

Leading the charge is Stephen Amell (Arrow, Heels), who takes on the pivotal role of Hobie Buchannon . Now the Captain of Baywatch, Hobie is all grown up and following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch, originally played by David Hasselhoff. Amell has been open about his pursuit of the role, revealing that he heard great things about showrunner Matt Nix and decided to put himself in the mix with an audition tape last December .

Amell has also shared his practical approach to preparing for the physically demanding part. Focusing on sustainability rather than extreme training, he noted that nutrition and consistency in the gym are his priorities, especially knowing he will be filming in the cold Pacific Ocean this spring.

Behind the Scenes and Production Details

The creative firepower behind the camera is just as strong. Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted) serves as showrunner and executive producer, while McG (The O.C., Charlie’s Angels) is set to direct the premiere episode and executive produce through his Wonderland Sound and Vision company . The series is a co-production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle .

Fox has placed a straight-to-series order for 12 episodes. Production is scheduled to begin this spring, with filming locations set for Venice Beach and the Fox studio lot in Century City . The network plans to premiere the new Baywatch during the 2026-2027 television season.

What to Expect from the New Series

The reboot promises to deliver all the elements that made the original a global phenomenon. According to official descriptions, viewers can expect adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, and complicated chemistry, all updated for a contemporary audience . With a mix of legacy characters and fresh faces like Noah Beck’s Luke, the new series aims to honor the franchise’s past while introducing it to a new generation of viewers.
