In a serious incident on Big Brother UK, contestant George Gilbert was removed from the show after repeated warnings about his language and behaviour. This came after he reduced fellow housemate Sam Ashby to tears by mocking them during a game, an act that was deemed “unacceptable” by show producers.

The Truth or Dare Incident That Sparked a Warning

The conflict began during a game of Truth or Dare on October 5, 2025. When George was asked to name each housemate’s worst quality, his response for Sam was to perform an impression. He mimicked Sam’s voice and used body language that included limp wrists, creating what was described as a crude and generic portrayal of queer people.

While some other housemates laughed at the impression, Sam was visibly hurt. In the Diary Room afterwards, a tearful Sam explained how the incident made them feel.

“It just kind of felt like I was back in school, I think. And it just kind of brought all that back in that moment,” Sam shared. “I think it’s just that feeling of when you’re a bit different, andโ€ฆpeople think it’s OK to take the p*ss out of you and point fingers and stuff. And everyone thinks it’s OK to join in and laugh at it.”

Sam further described the impression as feeling like mockery “as if I have some kind of, like, disability or something, which is just like, rude anyway.”

A Formal Warning from Big Brother

The show’s producers intervened the next day, on Monday, October 6. They called George into the Diary Room to address his actions directly. Big Brother reminded him that the rules of behaviour were explained before he entered the house.

“During a game of Truth or Dare, when asked about your least favourite qualities of other Housemates, you said the following, ‘Sam, um tooโ€ฆ,’ you then went on to mimic Sam using both noises that mocked the way Sam talks and body language that included limp wrists,” Big Brother stated. “Do you understand how both your language and behaviour could be offensive to Sam, your housemates and the viewing public?”

George replied that he had already spoken with Sam and apologized. He said, “I don’t want to make anyone feel like that, so I will be walking on eggshells around Sam from here on in.” Despite his apology, Big Brother issued him a formal warning, stating clearly that his “language was unacceptable and could cause offence.”

Removal from the Big Brother House

The warning was not the end of the matter. On Wednesday, October 9, ITV announced that George had been removed from the Big Brother house.

A spokesperson for the show confirmed the news, stating, “Following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour, George has been removed from the Big Brother House with immediate effect and will no longer participate in the programme.”

While George had been seen receiving his first warning on television, it was reported that he had received several other warnings for unacceptable language that were not broadcast because the language used violated broadcasting standards. His final comments that led to his removal were also not aired for the same reason.

George’s Statement and Past Controversies

After his removal, George Gilbert released a statement of his own. He described himself as a “flag-bearer of freedom of speech” but conceded that he had “evidently went too far this time by crossing their line one too many times.”

This was not George’s first controversial moment in the house. Earlier, he had sparked backlash from other housemates during a discussion on homelessness, where he claimed that homeless people should “stop deflecting responsibility” by “turning to drugs.” His views on asylum seekers had also caused divisions among the group.

The Aftermath and Show’s Response

With George’s removal, the planned eviction for Friday, October 10 continued without him. Big Brother informed viewers that the vote for George had been closed and a new vote would open featuring the remaining housemates.

The show’s producers reinforced that all contestants are given training in respect, dignity and inclusion before entering the house and that any offensive language or gestures would not be tolerated. The incident became a major talking point among viewers and online, with many fans expressing their support for Sam and condemning George’s behaviour.
