Fans of Squid Game are buzzing with excitement as Netflix gears up to release the second season of the global hit series. Among the fresh details shared, BIGBANG’s T.O.P, also known as Choi Seung Hyun, has announced his role as a retired rapper named Thanos, marking an intriguing addition to the highly anticipated series.

BIGBANG’s T.O.P as Thanos: A Retired Rapper with a Complicated Past

On December 5, Netflix released a video titled Meet the Cast, where the stars of Squid Game Season 2 discussed their characters. T.O.P, who left BIGBANG in 2023, described his character Thanos as a former rapper who faces life-altering challenges after a disastrous investment. Following advice from Myung Gi, a cryptocurrency YouTuber, Thanos stakes his life savings and loses everything. This misstep forces him to join the deadly games.

Visually, Thanos retains the swagger of his rapper persona, sporting purple-dyed hair and an easygoing attitude. However, the storyline hints at tension and drama, as Thanos directly confronts Myung Gi, played by Im Si Wan, who indirectly caused his downfall.

A Glimpse into Squid Game Season 2’s Plot

Directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk, Squid Game Season 2 will continue the narrative of Seong Gi Hun, who chooses to stay in Korea to dismantle the organization behind the games rather than reunite with his daughter in the U.S. The story will explore new alliances, betrayals, and the ongoing mystery of the games’ true purpose.
