BLACKPINK's Jennie and Rosé Targeted by Online Harassment and False Allegations

BLACKPINK members Jennie and Rosé have recently become the subjects of severe online harassment. The two idols are facing inappropriate comments and unfounded accusations on social media, specifically through hashtags such as “JennieChallenge” and “RoséChallenge.”

Background on the Harassment

The harassment stems from a backlash against the “SugaChallenge,” a viral trend that allegedly encouraged fans to engage in risky behaviors while driving. This challenge reportedly originated from a BLACKPINK fan with the intent to provoke BTS fans and their member Suga. In response, certain fan accounts created hashtags targeting Jennie and Rosé.

Details of the Harassment

  • Rosé: She has been falsely accused of drug use, linked to an old photo where she was allegedly seen near a table with drugs. This rumor, which surfaced last year, was quickly debunked. YG Entertainment had previously announced plans to take legal action against those spreading these false claims.
  • Jennie: She has been subjected to disturbing posts, including sexually suggestive content and edited images designed to shame her. Additionally, a private picture of Jennie, leaked last year due to cloud hacking, has been circulated maliciously.

The online harassment of the two BLACKPINK members even made headlines in Korean media, angering netizens.

“Why are they so obsessed with BLACKPINK? It’s really intense and persistent.”
“F*ckers.”
“At this point, they are a menace to society.”
“Why are they like that to BLACKPINK?”

“Honestly, their outrageous behavior isn’t new. I’m not even a BLACKPINK fan, but I’ve seen it so much that I’m fed up. It seriously makes me sick.”
“What’s wrong with them…?”
“No, seriously, what’s wrong with them? They must have really gone crazy.”
“Are all i-roaches just lunatics gathered together?”

Public Reaction

The troubling behavior directed at Jennie and Rosé has drawn significant media attention in Korea, highlighting the intensity of the online abuse they are facing. This has led to an outcry from the public and fans alike, condemning the harmful and invasive nature of the harassment.
