Blake Lively, known for her starring role in the popular teen drama series Gossip Girl, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, It Ends With Us. The film, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover, is a romantic drama with a deeper theme – domestic violence.
Why Taylor Swift’s Song Makes Sense for the Movie “It Ends With Us”
Interestingly, the official trailer for It Ends With Us features the song “My Tears Ricochet” by Taylor Swift, and according to Blake Lively, there’s a very good reason for that. Blake Lively, who also serves as an executive producer on the film, feels that the song’s lyrics perfectly capture the essence of Colleen Hoover’s story.
“My Tears Ricochet,” from Swift’s award-winning 2020 album Folklore, tells the story of a woman confronting her killer. Lively highlights the parallels between the song’s themes and the challenges faced by Lily Bloom, the protagonist of It Ends With Us, who is grappling with domestic abuse.
Speaking at a Q&A session at Book Bonanza, an annual event co-founded by author Colleen Hoover, Lively shared her thoughts on the connection between the movie and the song. “It just made so much sense putting them together,” she said. Lively went on to praise both Swift and Hoover for their ability to connect with audiences through their work.
“Colleen has this incredible ability to take something very personal and intimate and make it resonate with so many people,” Lively explained. “And Taylor, well, she’s an amazing writer. Her songs come from such a deep place, and she’s not afraid to be vulnerable.”
