There is currently a lot of confusion spreading online regarding actor Brian Tee and his connection to the Fox medical drama Doc. Some viewers are asking if the former Chicago Med star appears in Season 2, Episode 15 of the series. After a thorough review of casting announcements, production schedules, and official network listings, there is no evidence that Brian Tee has joined the cast of Doc or has filmed any scenes for the show.

So why are fans asking this question? The mix-up appears to stem from the fact that both Doc and Chicago Med are medical dramas, combined with Brian Tee’s very active career right now. The actor is currently attached to several high-profile television projects, and the confusion seems to have grown from his recent return to the world of television directing and his new roles in other series.

Brian Tee Has Not Been Cast in Fox’s ‘Doc’

Doc is a Fox medical drama that premiered in early 2025. The series stars Molly Parker and Omar Metwally and follows a ruthless but brilliant doctor who, after a brain injury, loses the memory of the last eight years. The show airs on Fox and is available for streaming on Hulu.

According to official casting records and production credits from the network, Brian Tee’s name does not appear in the cast list for Season 1 or the recently ordered Season 2. There have been no press releases, trade announcements, or talent signings indicating that he will appear in Episode 15 or any other episode of the series.

The confusion is understandable. Brian Tee played Dr. Ethan Choi for eight seasons on Chicago Med, making him one of the most recognizable faces in network television medical dramas. With Doc now occupying a similar space on Fox, audiences sometimes assume crossover casting.

What Brian Tee Is Actually Doing Right Now

While he is not working on Doc, Brian Tee is staying extremely busy in the television industry. His focus right now is split between acting in major streaming series and building a new career as a television director.

Tee recently starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the Prime Video limited series Expats, directed by Lulu Wang. The show gave him a major dramatic role outside of the procedural world and introduced him to a global audience on streaming.

He is also set to appear in Season 3 of Reacher on Prime Video. Tee will play a character named Quinn in the action series starring Alan Ritchson. Production on the season has wrapped, and the show is expected to release in late 2025 or early 2026. This marks a significant shift for the actor, moving from hospital hallways to high-stakes action sequences.

His Return to ‘Chicago Med’ Is Behind the Camera

Another reason fans may be confused about Brian Tee appearing in new medical dramas is that he has physically returned to the set of Chicago Med. However, he is not there as an actor.

Tee has directed two episodes of the NBC drama since leaving his role as a series regular. He made his directorial debut in Season 8 with Episode 17, titled “Know When to Hold and When to Fold.” He returned to direct again in Season 9, Episode 11.

“There‘s always conversation about returning on screen,” Tee told TV Line in mid-2024. “I think, every season, Chicago Med goes through a bit of a flux, but I get to come back and play with all the cast and the crew on the director side of things.”

He confirmed that he is open to acting on the show again, but only “if the right time or the right storyline comes along.” Tee suggested that a major hospital crisis or a large-scale disaster episode would be the perfect way to bring back Dr. Ethan Choi, possibly alongside other former cast members like Nick Gehlfuss and Yaya DaCosta.

‘The Scapegoat’ and Other Producing Work

Beyond acting and directing, Brian Tee is also working as a producer. He is developing an anthology limited series titled The Scapegoat. The first season, which Tee is shopping to networks and streamers, is called Tokyo Rose. It is based on the historical novel Iva, The True Story of Tokyo Rose by Mike Weedall.

The project tells the story of Iva Toguri, a Japanese-American woman who was caught in Japan during World War II and was infamously branded as “Tokyo Rose.” Tee is producing the series through his production company.

Additionally, Tee has landed a lead voice role in the Adult Swim animated series Get Jiro!. The show is based on the graphic novels by the late Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose. It is a half-hour animated series set in a world where chefs are treated like celebrity royalty and sushi chefs are enforcers who rule the streets of Los Angeles.

‘Chicago Med’ Today vs. The ‘Doc’ Confusion

Chicago Med is currently airing Season 11 on NBC. The show continues to air on Wednesdays at 8:00 Pm as part of the “Chicago Wednesday” block. The current cast includes S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Jessy Schram, Luke Mitchell, Steven Weber, Marlyne Barrett, Sarah Ramos, and Darren Barnet.

Brian Tee exited the show as a regular in December 2021 during Season 8. His final episode saw Dr. Ethan Choi marry April Sexton and leave Chicago. Since then, he has only returned as a director.

Because Doc is a newer medical drama on a major broadcast network, and because Brian Tee is one of the most famous recent medical drama stars, the two are often searched together. However, there are no records, set photos, casting notices, or interviews linking Brian Tee to the Fox series.

Where to Actually Watch Brian Tee Right Now

For viewers hoping to see Brian Tee on screen, the best bet is Prime Video. Both Expats and Reacher Season 3 are streaming on the platform. Reacher Season 3 is expected to be one of the biggest streaming releases of the year.

For fans who miss him as Dr. Choi, the only way to see him in scrubs is to revisit Seasons 1 through 8 of Chicago Med, which are available on Peacock. His final arc as a regular remains one of the most-watched episodes of the series.

Brian Tee is not in Doc Season 2 Episode 15 because he was never cast in the show. The rumor appears to be the result of search engine confusion between two medical procedurals. The actor remains focused on Reacher, animated projects, his directing career, and developing historical dramas.
