The post, shared on June 11, 2025, featured 20 photos from his time in the military. It got 13.8 million likes and 1 million shares quickly. The pictures showed him with fellow soldiers, working out with actor Song Kang, and reading a book. One photo had a cake with the message, “I’m happy to be with you.”
V’s other posts with over 1 million shares include a behind-the-scenes update with singer IU from January 2024. It got 18.2 million likes. Another post from December 2024 remembered his pet dog, Yeontan, and got 14.4 million likes. His February 2025 post, counting down to his military discharge, got 17.3 million likes and 1.8 million shares.

Fans worldwide celebrated his return from the military on June 10, 2025. He served in the Army’s Special Duty Team and was discharged alongside fellow BTS member RM. After his discharge, V shared updates on social media, including a dance video that went viral.

V’s February 23 post became the most-liked Instagram post of 2025. It got 16.4 million likes, beating Billie Eilish and Cristiano Ronaldo. The post showed him in military uniform with a snowman and a teddy bear hat. The caption said, “Sergeant Kim, I’m here to report my survival!”
