Netflix has officially announced the full cast for its upcoming action comedy “Bad Day,“ bringing together a star-studded group of actors for a film that promises laughs and excitement. The movie, which started production in October 2025, marks Cameron Diaz’s second major project with the streaming service. The story follows a single mother trying to keep a simple promise to her daughter during the most disastrous day imaginable.
The Story and Creative Team
“Bad Day” centers on a single mom fighting to keep one little promise to her daughter on the absolute worst day of her life. The film has been described as a comedic version of the 1993 movie Falling Down, which starred Michael Douglas.
The project brings together a talented creative team. The script was written by Laura Solon, who previously worked on Netflix’s Let It Snow and The School for Good and Evil. Directing is Jake Szymanski, known for the popular comedy series Jury Duty and the film Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Producing is Beau Bauman for Good One Productions, reuniting him with Diaz after their successful collaboration on Back in Action.
The film is described as a comedic iteration of Falling Down, the classic 1993 movie.
Filming is currently underway in New Jersey, with locations including Plainfield, East Windsor, Bloomfield, and Passaic. Production is scheduled to continue until December 2025.

A Promising Netflix Collaboration
“Bad Day” represents a continued partnership between Cameron Diaz and Netflix. Her previous film for the streamer, Back in Action, was a major success. After its debut in January 2025, it spent six weeks in the global top 10 and became one of the most-watched Netflix original movies.
The film also continues several other successful professional relationships. It is the third collaboration for producer Beau Bauman and writer Laura Solon, who previously worked together on Office Christmas Party and Let It Snow.
With production ongoing, a release date for “Bad Day” has not yet been announced. However, given that filming is expected to wrap in late 2025, the movie will likely be available for streaming on Netflix sometime before the end of 2026.
