A social media post from Cardi B’s ex-husband, Offset, has ignited a fierce public response from the rapper, who is demanding an end to online harassment. The conflict started when Offset posted and quickly deleted a message about Cardi B’s newborn son, whom she shares with her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs.
The Post That Started the Drama
On November 15, Offset shared a since-deleted Instagram Story that consisted of a black screen with white text reading, “My kid lol.” Though the post was only live for a short time, fans quickly captured screenshots, sending them viral across social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter).
The timing of the post was significant, coming just two days after Cardi B announced on November 13 that she had welcomed a new baby with NFL star Stefon Diggs. In her announcement, she described this period as a new chapter in her life, writing, โStarting over is never easy but itโs been so worth it!โ She also shares three other childrenโdaughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 14 months, and son Wave, 4โwith Offset.
The vague post was widely interpreted as a reference to Georgia state law, where the couple was married and their divorce is still being processed. This law presumes that a woman’s husband is the legal father of any child born during the marriage, even if the biological father is another man.
Cardi Bโs Emotional Response
Cardi B did not stay silent. She took to X to express her extreme frustration and fear, stating that the online chatter has real-world consequences. In a series of now-deleted posts, she made her feelings crystal clear.
โYโall be thinking itโs so funny and itโs notโฆ itโs been over a year and Iโm still being harassed and threatened to the point that I feel like my life in danger.. it’s all fun and games until it’s too late.”
In a second, equally forceful post, she directly addressed the source of the drama, writing:
โMFโers do anything for attention and it could get real nasty with just one uploadโฆ LEAVE ME TF ALONE.โ
She later joined an X Space for a longer conversation, detailing the toll the constant scrutiny has taken on her. She described struggling with “unhealthy obsession” from the public and the pressure she faces while managing her postpartum recovery. โIโm really starting to be concernedโฆ I canโt take this anymore. I donโt bother nobody. Leave me the f*ck alone,” she said during the session.
Understanding the Georgia Paternity Law
The viral discussion around Offset’s post brought a specific Georgia statute into the spotlight. The law states that if a child is born to a married woman, her husband is automatically presumed to be the legal father. Since Cardi B and Offset are still legally married, this technicality would, in a legal sense, initially place Offset in the position of the child’s legal father.
However, the situation is more complex than a simple social media post suggests. The biological father, Stefon Diggs, has the right to petition the court for “legitimation,” a legal process that would establish his parental rights. Until such an action is taken, Cardi B is the only person with the sole legal authority to make decisions for the newborn.
A History of Public Tension
This incident is not an isolated one in the couple’s complicated relationship. Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in July 2024, and their split has played out publicly on several occasions.
Earlier this year, Cardi B claimed that Offset had been sending her threatening messages. โHe’s upset because I sent his girlfriend messages of him begging me, saying he was going to take away his life, saying he was going to take away my life,” she alleged on X in March.
For his part, Offset has admitted to mistakes in their marriage. During an October appearance on a podcast, he stated, โI was definitely not perfect in the situation. I made a lot of mistakes. I shouldโve respected her way moreโฆ I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out.”
Fan Reactions and Social Media Chaos
The online reaction to the drama was swift and divided. On social media platforms, fans debated everything from the legal implications to the personal dynamics at play.
Some users focused on the legal technicalities, with one commenter noting, โTechnically my law he is rightโฆ Cause I the eyes of the law he is right.โ Others were more critical of Offset’s actions, with one person writing, โOffset losing it but people think it’s normal he is obsessed with his ex wife.โ Another fan appealed for maturity, commenting, โMaturity allows acceptance and the ability to move on with dignity and grace. For the sake of all the children, bro move on!โ
As of now, Offset has not made any further public statements about the deleted post. Stefon Diggs has also remained silent on the matter, maintaining his usual approach of keeping his personal life private. The focus now shifts to the legal process, as the status of Cardi B and Offset’s divorce and the formal establishment of paternity for the newborn will need to be resolved through the courts.
