Fantagio, the agency representing K-pop star Cha Eun-woo, has issued a formal apology after a creative promotional event for his new album resulted in thousands of misdialed calls, causing inconvenience to the public. The phone event, which allowed fans to hear a personal message from the actor-singer, attracted over 100,000 calls in a short period.

The incident began on November 4, 2025, when Cha Eun-woo’s official social media account posted a phone number with the message, โ€œCall me now, before the sound is gone.โ€ Fans who dialed the correct number, 070-8919-0330, were greeted by a pre-recorded voice message from the star himself. This special event was designed as a gift for his fans while he completes his mandatory military service.

However, the overwhelming response to the unique promotion had an unintended consequence. As the event went viral, many fans accidentally dialed the wrong numbers, leading to a flood of calls to people who were not involved in the event. This widespread misdialing prompted his agency, Fantagio, to release an official apology on November 5, 2025.

What Was the Album Promotion Event?

The phone call event was organized to promote Cha Eun-woo’s second solo mini-album, titled ELSE. The album is scheduled for release on November 21, 2025. The star, who enlisted in the military in July 2025, had pre-recorded the audio message for his fans before beginning his service.

The recorded message featured his voice warmly greeting callers. He said, > โ€œHello? Itโ€™s Eun Woo. How have you been? How do you like my album? Have you been thinking of me? I miss you.โ€ Another version of the message included the lines, > โ€œDid you hear my news? I told you Iโ€™ve got everything ready. What do you think of my album? Youโ€™re excited, right? Please look forward to itโ€”and donโ€™t forget to eat well and think of me.โ€

The creative concept was highly appreciated by fans, with many describing the experience as “heart-fluttering.” It was reported that the event was Cha Eun-woo’s own idea, intended to comfort his supporters during his time away.

Why Did the Agency Issue an Apology?

The popularity of the event quickly led to a problem. The high volume of callsโ€”reportedly exceeding 100,000โ€”meant that even a small percentage of misdials affected many private individuals. People with phone numbers similar to the one provided for the event started receiving unintended calls.

In response to these reports, Fantagio posted a formal statement on Cha Eun-woo’s official channels titled “Notice Regarding ARS VOICE Contact.” The agency addressed the issue directly, writing, > โ€œRecently, some users have entered the number incorrectly, causing calls to be directed elsewhere. We ask that you use the correct number when accessing the service.โ€

The statement concluded with a sincere apology: > โ€œWe sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been inconvenienced by this issue.โ€ The agency emphasized that only the specific number 070-8919-0330 was connected to the event and urged fans to double-check the digits before calling to prevent further disturbances.

Fan Reaction and Online Discussion

The incident sparked considerable discussion online regarding responsibility for the public inconvenience. Some commentators placed the blame on fans for not being careful when dialing the number. Others argued that the agency should have anticipated the potential for such mix-ups in a large-scale promotional event and implemented better safeguards from the start.

Many fans expressed their appreciation for the unique event despite the mishap. They were touched by the star’s effort to connect with them personally during his military service. The event’s success in generating engagement also highlighted the powerful reach of K-pop fan communities.

Cha Eun-woo’s Current Activities

Cha Eun-woo is currently serving in the Republic of Korea Army Band after enlisting on July 28, 2025. He completed his basic training and was recognized as an exemplary recruit, even being selected as a platoon leader. Despite his military duties, he has remained in the public eye through projects he completed before enlistment.

His film, The First Ride, premiered on October 29, 2025. His upcoming Netflix series, The Wonder Fools, is scheduled for release in the first half of 2026. The release of his album ELSE demonstrates a strategy to minimize his hiatus during his service, which is expected to end in 2027.
