Comedian and podcaster Claudia Oshry ended her run on The Masked Singer in a very surprising way. Instead of waiting for the results, she chose to leave the competition herself. This happened on the January 28 episode. Oshry, who performed as Queen Corgi, made the choice to remove her mask and exit before host Nick Cannon could say who received the fewest votes.
The episode was a special Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, celebrating 40 years of the popular franchise. Alongside Oshry’s departure, a new wildcard contestant named 14 Karat Carrot joined the show.
Why Queen Corgi Left the Competition
Claudia Oshry’s decision to leave the show was not something the producers or judges expected. When host Nick Cannon was about to reveal which contestant was eliminated, Oshry, still in her Queen Corgi costume, interrupted him. She said, “I just feel my time has come”.
Oshry told the judges and audience, “I’ve learned so much about myself, but my time is up. And there’s so many amazing contestants, and I want them to have the best experience. So I am bowing out.”
Judge Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg responded by telling Oshry, “You could have gone all the way”. Host Nick Cannon also noted how unusual this was, stating, “This has never happened before at this stage.”
A Mother’s Reason for Leaving
After taking off her mask, Claudia Oshry explained her personal reasons for leaving the competition. The main reason was her family. Oshry had a baby boy just four months before the episode was filmed.
In an interview, Oshry shared, “I had a four-month-old at the time. I was breastfeeding exclusively. I was pumping in the trailer, and it really started to take its toll. I was spending a lot of time away from my baby.”
Oshry said that while she loved being on the show, she felt it was more important to be at home. “Ultimately, I decided that… this has fulfilled a dream… I’ve sung on national TV, I did what I came here to do,” she explained. On stage, she joked about her exit, saying, “I feel like it wouldn’t be fair to everybody else to keep singing ‘cause I’m so good”. She finished by saying her dream of being a pop star was now a checked box.
A Look Back at Queen Corgi’s Performances and Clues
During her time on the show, Claudia Oshry performed two songs as Queen Corgi. In the season premiere on January 7, she sang “Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Barbra Streisand. On the January 28 episode, she performed “Unstoppable” by Sia.
The clues given for Queen Corgi pointed toward her life and career:
- A connection to New York City: Clues mentioned waddling past Madison Square Garden and later selling out a show there.
- A reference to “Toast”: One clue was avocado toast, and another voiceover said, “Good luck toasting the competition.” This was a clear hint about her popular podcast, The Toast.
- Motherhood: Queen Corgi’s clues talked about being a new mom and wanting her child to know no dream is too big.
The judges made several guesses about her identity, including comedians Amy Schumer, Ali Wong, and Whitney Cummings, but none correctly guessed Claudia Oshry.
Other Standout Performances from Episode 4
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night featured four other contestants who all moved forward in the competition.
- Cat Witch: This performer, who was revealed to viewers (but not the judges) as actress and singer Kylie Cantrall, sang “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. Cat Witch serves as “America’s Insider,” giving behind-the-scenes clues to the audience.
- Stingray: Performed an emotional version of “Momma Song” by Benson Boone. Clues talked about the performer’s mother being an “oracle” and mentioned owning restaurants as part of an empire.
- Galaxy Girl: Sang “Just a Girl” by No Doubt. Her clues involved jingle bells and a story about defiantly changing her look right before a major, successful photoshoot.
- 14 Karat Carrot: The new wildcard contestant performed “Hold On, I’m Comin’” by Sam & Dave. Clues suggested a troubled past that led to being “locked away” before turning his life around for a “golden” future. Judges guessed stars like Otis Williams, Verdine White, and even Morgan Freeman.

The next episode, scheduled for Wednesday, February 4 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, will be a “Red, White and Clue Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday” special.
