The workplace comedy DMV delivered its most high-stakes episode yet on Monday night. What started as a simple complaint about a broken office chair turned into a $100,000 lawsuit that put one of the office’s most beloved—and most inappropriate—employees at risk of getting fired.

Episode 10, titled “Hot Gurlz,” aired on February 23, 2026 on CBS and is now streaming on Paramount+. The episode balanced serious consequences for Gregg’s legal action against the East Hollywood branch with lighter moments involving Colette’s latest romantic misadventure and Noa dealing with a difficult customer.

Gregg’s Lawsuit Backfires and Puts Barb in Danger

The main storyline of the episode finally addressed the lawsuit that Gregg (Tim Meadows) launched against the DMV. Viewers have been waiting to see the fallout from his legal action, which started over his terrible office chair. What Gregg thought would be a straightforward payday quickly became complicated when HR representative Trish (Diana Maria Riva) got involved.

Trish was assigned to investigate Gregg’s complaint, and during her time at the branch, she zeroed in on manager Barb (Molly Kearney) . The problem? Barb has absolutely no control over the constant stream of accidental innuendos that come out of her mouth. What makes Barb endearing to coworkers becomes a major liability when HR is watching.

The tension reached its peak when Trish offered Gregg a $100,000 settlement to resolve his lawsuit. But there was a catch nobody saw coming. If Gregg took the money, Barb would likely get fired. HR viewed Barb’s inappropriate comments as a serious workplace issue, and the paperwork from Gregg’s lawsuit gave them the perfect reason to let her go.

“That was like one of the shifts for Gregg’s character into the next episodes.”
Tim Meadows to TV Insider

Gregg found himself in an impossible situation. He wanted the money and felt justified in his complaint about working conditions. But losing Barb, his work friend of 12 years, was too high a price. The episode showed a different side of Gregg as he realized how much Barb actually means to him.

In a tense negotiation scene with Trish, Gregg made his choice. He agreed to waive the lawsuit completely and drop all paperwork. In exchange, Barb keeps her job. Trish, who admitted that paperwork is something they always try to avoid, accepted the deal.

Tim Meadows praised his scene partner Diana Maria Riva in interviews following the episode. “The negotiation scenes that we did together… she was amazing,” Meadows said. He also opened up about working with Molly Kearney, calling them “one of the best comic actors out there.”

“Playing with Molly is just so much fun,” Meadows added. “We really like each other also, and so to play angry with somebody that you really love and have fun with the dynamic is just a blast to do.”

The episode made it clear that Gregg and Barb’s friendship runs deeper than viewers have seen so far. Tim Meadows even hinted that he would love to do a flashback episode showing their first meeting at the DMV 12 years ago. Whether the show will deliver that remains to be seen.

Colette Plays Matchmaker for Ceci

While Gregg dealt with serious legal consequences, Colette (Harriet Dyer) was up to her usual tricks of getting too involved in other people’s business. This time, she went on a date with Ceci’s cousin Miguel, played by Eddie Ramos.

Colette agreed to the date for reasons that were not entirely romantic. During her time with Miguel, she started to notice something important. Miguel might actually be the perfect match for Ceci. Colette, with her trademark bad boundaries, saw an opportunity to help her coworker find love.

The date gave Colette a new mission. Instead of pursuing Miguel for herself, she decided to figure out if he could be the key to Ceci’s heart. The episode did not show whether her matchmaking efforts succeeded, but it set up potential complications for future episodes.

Vic Steps Up to Help Noa

The third storyline of the episode involved Noa (Alex Tarrant) dealing with a rude customer named Brent, played by guest star Mark Feuerstein. Brent came into the DMV with a bad attitude, making Noa’s job even harder than it already is.

Vic (Tony Cavalero) , the former bouncer who loves putting difficult people in their place, noticed Noa struggling. He stepped in to help his coworker handle the situation. Vic’s approach to customer service is very different from Noa’s calm, surfer-dude personality, and watching the two of them work together provided some of the episode’s lighter moments.

The contrast between Vic’s aggressive style and Noa’s easygoing nature created comedy, but it also showed how the DMV employees look out for each other. Even in a job where customers hate you before you even say hello, the East Hollywood branch has built a team that supports its members.

What Made This Episode Different

The tenth episode of DMV stood out because it raised the stakes for the characters. Previous episodes focused more on workplace comedy and the awkward relationships between coworkers. “Hot Gurlz” introduced real consequences.

Gregg’s decision to drop his lawsuit shows character growth. He came into the DMV as a misanthropic former English teacher who seemed to hate everything about his job. But when faced with losing Barb, he chose friendship over money. Tim Meadows confirmed this was an intentional shift for the character.

The episode also continued to build the world of the East Hollywood DMV. Guest stars like Diana Maria Riva and Mark Feuerstein added depth to the stories without taking focus away from the main cast. Eddie Ramos as Miguel may return if Colette’s matchmaking plans work out.

Production Details

“Hot Gurlz” was directed by Rob Cohen from a script written by Nora Nolan. The episode kept the show’s signature tone—finding humor in the miserable reality of working at a DMV while showing the human connections that make it bearable.

DMV is executive produced by Dana Klein, Matt Kuhn, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, and Robyn Meisinger. The series premiered in October 2025 and has built a steady audience on CBS and Paramount+.

The show draws its comedy from the simple truth that everyone hates going to the DMV. But by focusing on the employees who work there for minimum wage, it finds heart in a place most people want to escape as quickly as possible.
