The new K-drama Dynamite Kiss premiered on November 12, 2025, with a first episode that delivered a complete romantic story, from a chance meeting to a passionate kiss. The show stars Jang Ki-yong as the successful Gong Ji-hyeok and Ahn Eun-jin as the struggling Go Da-rim, whose instant chemistry has already captured viewers’ attention. The premiere recorded a strong 4.9% viewership in the Seoul metropolitan area, making it the top-rated weekday drama.
A Bad Day in Jeju Island
The story introduces Go Da-rim, a woman who has been trying to pass her civil service exam for five years. Her life is filled with challenges, from a professor who mocks her to a sister who sees her as an embarrassment. Her sister gives her a ticket to Jeju Island not as a gift, but to keep her away from a wedding, lying to the in-laws that Da-rim has a successful career in the U.S.
In Jeju, Da-rim’s difficult day gets worse when she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Kim Jeong-won. He is now a celebrated tech developer and is dating one of Da-rim’s old friends. After an awkward encounter where he mocks her, a flustered Da-rim lies and says she is in Jeju with her own boyfriend.
A Case of Mistaken Identity
Meanwhile, the other lead, Gong Ji-hyeok, is in Jeju on business. A confident and successful man, he is trying to recruit the very same Kim Jeong-won for a major project. While celebrating a business win near a cliff, he is spotted by Da-rim, who mistakes his actions for a suicide attempt.
She rushes to save him, resulting in both of them getting injured and ending up at a hospital. An irritated Ji-hyeok leaves Da-rim to pay the medical bill, forcing her to use the last of her savings. The next morning, she finds him at her hotel and confronts him. At that exact moment, her ex-boyfriend appears. To maintain her lie, she impulsively introduces Ji-hyeok as her boyfriend.
The Fake Relationship Deal
Seeing an opportunity to get closer to Jeong-won for business reasons, Ji-hyeok plays along. He later proposes a deal to Da-rim: he will pay her ten times the amount of the hospital bill if she continues to act as his girlfriend for the day. Desperate for money and tempted by the chance to get back at her ex, Da-rim agrees.
Ji-hyeok invests in the charade, taking her shopping for expensive clothes and a full makeover. The transformation stuns everyone, including Jeong-won and Ji-hyeok himself. At a party, the pair expertly handle Jeong-won’s attempts to expose their lie, with Da-rim confidently standing up to her ex’s provocations.
An Explosive Finale
As the party continues, Jeong-won corners them for more questioning. In a moment of panic to stop Ji-hyeok from talking, Da-rim suddenly kisses him. The surprise kiss leaves Ji-hyeok startled, with his heart racing. After a moment, he is the one who pulls her back.
He asks to kiss her again, and this time, it is a deep and passionate kiss that happens as fireworks light up the sky. In a voice-over, Ji-hyeok reflects that this was a “dynamite kiss.”
The production team released a preview for episode 2, showing Gong Ji-hyeok and Go Da-rim on a boat in Jeju, suggesting their complicated relationship is far from over. The show airs on SBS every Wednesday and Thursday and is available for international audiences on Netflix.
