In the seventh and eighth episodes of the popular K-drama, the web of lies and hidden feelings reaches its most tangled point. The latest chapters of Dynamite Kiss push every character to an emotional brink, marked by a dramatic rescue, a shocking engagement, and a discovery that changes everything for the main character, Kong Ji-hyeok .

Events start with Da-rim recovering in the hospital after her collapse, with Ji-hyeok staying by her side all night . The growing bond between them soon faces a major test. During a company tree-planting event, Da-rim gets injured searching for a lost child . Ji-hyeok finds her and they are forced to take shelter together in a cave from a heavy downpour. In this tense and private moment, a feverish Ji-hyuk confesses that he is deeply affected by Da-rim . He tells her, “I, too, am easily swayed” . Just as they share a close moment, Kim Seon-u arrives, acting on his own fears as the man pretending to be Da-rim’s husband .

Back in Seoul, Ji-hyukโs internal conflict intensifies. Haunted by memories of his father’s infidelity, he pushes Da-rim away when she visits his home to thank him, coldly questioning the propriety of a “married” woman visiting him alone . In a drastic move to escape his feelings, Ji-hyuk then makes a stunning public announcement during a family lunch with Yoo Ha-yeong and their parents, declaring he wants to get married immediately .

A Fake Engagement and a Staged Trip
The sudden wedding news becomes public, shocking Da-rim at the office . Ji-hyukโs half-sister, Ji-hye, seizes on rumors of his closeness with Da-rim. She orders her assistant to find proof of an affair to damage Ji-hyuk’s reputation . The assistant engineers a company trip to a remote island, deliberately ensuring that Ji-hyuk and Da-rim are the only team members who can go and will be stranded overnight .
The trip is filled with forced closeness and awkward moments. They are made to share the only available room, and the assistant lurks outside, attempting to capture incriminating photos . Despite the situation, they share surprisingly tender moments, like when Ji-hyuk, who is afraid of bugs, hides behind Da-rim so she can catch a spider . That night, unable to sleep, Ji-hyuk finds himself watching Da-rim before leaving the room to clear his head .
Meanwhile, Ha-yeong is in turmoil over the arranged engagement. She goes to Seon-u for comfort and confesses her feelings for him, lying to her mother about being with Ji-hyuk . When Ji-hyuk discovers this, he confronts Seon-u and punches him . During their heated argument, Seon-u questions Ji-hyuk’s true motives, asking if his anger is really about Ha-yeong or if it involves Da-rim . This question lingers with Ji-hyuk.

A Childโs Word Changes Everything
In the final moments of the eighth episode, all the carefully constructed lies begin to unravel. On the day of his official engagement party, Ji-hyuk sees Da-rim arrive at the venue . He then watches as Seon-u and his young son, Jun, approach her. The boy runs up to Da-rim and clearly calls out to her, saying “Auntie!” .
This single word strikes Ji-hyuk like a thunderbolt. He had built an entire wall of guilt and restraint around the belief that Da-rim was a married mother. The truth that she is not Jun’s motherโand therefore likely not Seon-u’s wifeโsuddenly becomes clear . The episode ends with Ji-hyuk frozen in place, realizing that the primary obstacle he believed stood between him and Da-rim may never have existed at all .
The fallout from this discovery will be central to the next episodes of Dynamite Kiss. New episodes 9 and 10 are scheduled to arrive on Netflix on December 10 and 11, 2025 .
